Drag Race season 15 star Luxx Noir London has shared her unfiltered thoughts about losing the crown.
In April 2023, fans watched as the top four contestants of the 15th season—Sasha Colby, Anetra, Luxx, and Mistress Isabelle Brooks—fought for the crown and title of America’s Next Drag Superstar during the epic grand finale.
Like past seasons, the queens performed stunning original numbers that showcased their charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent.
Duck walk icon Anetra kicked off the festivities with her dance-heavy performance of ‘Lotus.’
New Jersey talent Luxx delivered a sickening performance of ‘It’s Giving Fashion.’
Mistress strutted across the stage in a gagworthy and hilarious performance of her original song ‘Delusion.’
Lastly, “every drag queen’s favourite drag queen” Sasha performed her track ‘Goddess,’ which was based on the Greek figure Medusa.
Ultimately, Ru crowned Sasha the winner and recipient of $200,000.
While the majority of viewers embraced the top four queens, a handful of “fans” used their energy to send hate toward Luxx.
In a recent episode of the Exposed podcast, the 24-year-old opened up about the backlash she received from online trolls and how it impacted her time at the grand finale.
“It was really hard to feel like no one was really rooting for you, knowing that you did so amazing,” she explained.
“It felt like I was the only person in my corner, even though I had my friends and, of course, the fans who have always been there, like I’m so appreciative. But I just could not fathom me doing so well, yet so little amount of people wanted to see me succeed.”
Elsewhere in her interview, Luxx revealed that the negative social media posts she received still affect her.
“To this day, sometimes I’ll just think about how I really felt like this moment was ruined for me. Even though so many great things have come out of me being on Drag Race, I sometimes feel like I wasn’t able to enjoy it,” she said, while holding back tears.
“I don’t think I will ever get over losing Drag Race. I don’t think I’ve had a chance to process everything that has happened, because I don’t want to allow myself to feel like everybody who told me I shouldn’t, or wouldn’t, get it won.”
Luxx went on to say that if it hadn’t been for the top four being required to film a reaction video, she would have never watched the finale.
“It was heartbreaking to sit there and experience it and watch myself, in front of my idol, in front of my mother, in front of my boyfriend, have my dream crushed, and feeling nobody in that audience felt any remorse… or wanted the outcome to be me winning,” she added.
While she’s still dealing with the aftermath of Drag Race season 15, Luxx told Exposed host Joseph Shepherd that she would still be open to returning to the franchise.
“I definitely think I would do it because now I think people are coming around to seeing who I really am,” she said.
“I think people are finally turning around and seeing that I have something of value to offer. I enjoy being on television, and I like wearing pretty clothes on TV, and I like seeing RuPaul. I think that I crushed it the first time, I can crush it again.”
