Madonna shared an update on her health to her Instagram following her serious hospitalization last month.
The pop singer reportedly was rushed to a New York City intensive care unit due to a “serious bacterial infection.” According to Radar Online, those close to the singer found her unresponsive in her home and used Narcan to revive her before taking her to the hospital. Her manager Guy Oseary said the infection led to a several-day stay at the ICU. He did his best to reassure concerned fans that the “Like a Version” singer was expected to recover fully, and that her tour dates would be rescheduled.
She was set to start her Madonna: The Celebration Tour on July 15, but everything was put on hold after the incident.
Singer Issues a Statement
Now, we have an update from the Queen of Pop herself.
In a text post shared to Instagram on Monday morning, she wrote, “Thank you for your positive energy, prayers and words of healing and encouragement. I have felt your love. I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life. My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.”
She continued, “My focus now is my health and getting stronger. And I assure you, I’ll be back with you as soon as I can! The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and to begin in October in Europe. I couldn’t be more grateful for your care and support.”
As it stands, Madonna’s tour will kick off in October in Europe and the North American leg of the tour will be rescheduled for a later date.
