He stands 6 feet and weighs 245 pounds and can eat his weight in crab legs. He has his own line of merchandise that plays off one of the more unique nicknames in the NFL. Meet Harrison Mevis, the “Thiccer Kicker” of the Los Angeles Rams.
After finding himself undrafted in 2024, Mevis was picked up by the Rams in midseason and found his way into the hearts of NFL fans when he made his debut on Nov. 9, showing off a physique more akin to a linebacker than a kicker. His profile grew larger a week ago when his overtime field goal lifted the Rams over the Chicago Bears and into the NFC Championship Game against the Seattle Seahawks.
If you’re like me, then you already knew who Mevis is and how he dedicates himself to perfecting his craft on the gridiron. The Warsaw, Ind., native played four years for the University of Missouri where fans gave him his nickname. Rarely, if ever, do you see a kicker listed at 6-0 and 245 pounds and he embraced it.

Let’s give a shoutout to the Rams’ punter who is stronger than most NFL players and made the key play in a big win.
In 2020 when Mevis made his Missouri debut, I had just graduated but not being in Columbia never wavered in my love for Tigers athletics. I did not miss a football game.

He finished his freshman season breaking Mizzou kicking records and, most importantly, was given his nickname.
When NIL was officially passed in 2021, merchandise companies ran to Mevis to start a deal. Mevis chose Columbia’s local shop, 573 Tees, for his NIL deal and thus the “Thiccer Kicker” merchandise was born.
Now, 573 Tees is capitalizing on his NFL fame with Rams-themed shirts.
The game that caught the attention of college football fans came in 2023. Mizzou, behind now New York Jets quarterback Brady Cook, drove to the 44-yard line. Mevis came on to try a walk-off 61-yard field goal attempt.
Sir Thiccer Kicker nailed the field goal to give Mizzou its upset win over No. 15 Kansas State, solidifying not only his Missouri legacy but his nickname in the college football landscape.
Mevis is both humble and fun. And he loves to eat.
He was especially humble in his postgame interview after his game-winner over the Bears.
Mevis dropped the naughty word for “shoot,” which led to the jumbled up audio that encapsulates his personality. He then marched around in celebration while goofing around and having fun with the game.
573 Tees even posted their support for Mevis after his game winning field goal.
How a kicker, who broke not only Mizzou records but also NCAA records, got overlooked by so many teams is beyond me. Mizzou fans were itching for the day the NFL would see the wonders of the Thiccer Kicker.
Mevis continues to gain a following because of his size. He’s taken his nickname since his days on Faurot Field and runs with the positivity it brings not only to himself but the team.
How can you not love a kicker with the build of a linebacker nailing game winning field goals?
