NYC Pride announces 2024 events, including Youth Pride and PrideFest

NYC Pride is rolling out more details on the schedule for this year’s Pride festivities, including usual events like Youth Pride and PrideFest. The events will complement the main NYC Pride March, which is set to take place on June 30.

“This year marks the 40th anniversary of Heritage of Pride becoming the official organizers of this iconic event and we are honored to continue our legacy of advocating for equality and celebrating diversity,” Sue Doster, co-chair of NYC Pride, said in a written statement. NYC Pride, also known as Heritage of Pride, organizes the city’s main Pride March and related events, while the Reclaim Pride Coalition leads the alternative Queer Liberation March, which is a grassroots march that takes place on the same day as NYC Pride and bars police and corporate involvement.

NYC Pride is highlighting five events for this year, beginning with Teaze — a diverse party experience scheduled for 2 p.m. on June 22 featuring DJs and performers at Club Lambda BK, which is at 1031 Grand St. in Brooklyn. Information on general admission and VIP tickets, along with official talent lineup and other details, will be announced at a later date.

Another event, Youth Pride, will take place the following week at the South Street Seaport Museum. Scheduled to begin at noon on June 29, Youth Pride is intended for individuals between the ages of 13 and 24 and aims to provide a vibrant celebration honoring LGBTQ youth in a safe space. Registration is not yet open. Attendees are encouraged to register, though not required, according to event organizers. NYC Pride has yet to announce the talent lineup and other details.

The main march on Pride Sunday, June 30, will begin at 11 a.m. and marchers will step off from 25th Street and Fifth Avenue. The full route for this year’s march is not yet available.

NYC Pride is also promoting two other events on Pride Sunday. The annual street fair known as PrideFest will return at 11 a.m. The exact location is not yet determined, according to NYC Pride, but it will be near Union Square Park and Astor Place. PrideFest will serve as the base for several different events, as well, including StageFest, CommunityFest, and FoodFest, StageFest will feature live music and speeches, while FamilyFest will offer a designated area featuring activities for youth. CommunityFest provides a place for organizations and initiatives fighting for LGBTQ rights, social justice, and more to engage with attendees and raise awareness around key issues, according to NYC Pride. FoodFest will combine several different food vendors to provide culinary options from around the world.

Another event on the schedule for June 30 is Bliss Days, formerly known as Femme Fatale, which “promises to be a jubilant celebration of LGBTQIA+ womxn,” according to NYC Pride. The event is for the 21+ crowd and will honor the achievements of women in the community. Bliss Days is scheduled to take place at The DL, a rooftop lounge, at 2 p.m. General admission and VIP tickets are not yet on sale.

One notable change this year is that there will be no Pride Island music festival, which has been held on Pride weekend in previous years and featured performers such as Kim Petras and Christina Aguilera.

NYC Pride’s events will come at the tail end of an action-packed Pride Month in New York City. Queens Pride is scheduled for June 2, followed by Brooklyn Pride on June 8. Neighborhood-based Pride events are also on deck, including Harlem Pride, which is at noon on June 26.
