What’s happy, gay, and red all over? Gay Days Anaheim, the LGBTQ+ community’s annual takeover of the happiest place on Earth, a.k.a. Disneyland Resort.

This year, over 30,000 people flocked to Anaheim, California for three action-packed days from September 18 to 20. Of course, like the theme park itself, the unofficial queer community meetup has certainly blossomed from its humble roots as a one-day gathering in 1998.

Accordingly, programming featured not only dedicated days in both Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure, but parties and a performances by Cheyenne Jackson, stand-up comedians Zach Stewart and Kalea McNeill, as well as packed-out drag shows from the likes of Alyssa Edwards, Jackie Cox, Jan Sport, and Irene the Alien.

Famously, Gay Days Anaheim is a “mix in” event, meaning its LGBTQ+ attendees are mingling with the general public throughout the parks. That said, it’s not hard to figure out who’s there with their regular family or their chosen one, thanks to the red-shirt dress code. (This year’s signature tee featured an especially fabulous ode to The Haunted Mansion, and is still available online.)

From dedicated ride events on The Jungle Cruise, to family lunches, and even bear meet-ups at Grizzly River Run, the entire weekend was a celebration of the parks — and even more importantly, the people who made it out there.
