Plus, we celebrated 60 years of Star Trek, dove into ancient Tom Cruise lore, and most importantly, made friends with “Mister Gay Ogunquit Best Butt.”

Otherwise, it’s been all about magic, men, and 10 years of Moonlight.

1. Moonlight

This October marks 10 years since Barry Jenkins’ landmark gay love story, Moonlight, hit theaters. (It would later make Academy Awards history as both a shocking Best Picture winner and the reason no one asks Warren Beatty to present awards anymore.)

Fittingly, the powerful film, which follows a young Black man grappling with his past and future while navigating his sexuality, is headed to theaters this fall in a newly remastered 4K cut. Although you can get a head start on rewatching by snagging the film on Blu-Ray for $15.99 on Amazon.

2. A candle that smells like autumn

Cinnamon apple for autumn? Groundbreaking.

OK, so Gay Candle Co. knows their apple rind and cinnamon candle—available for $42 from LGBTQ Outpost–might be the epitome of fall scents, but the queer-owned small business promises it’s anything but basic, and we’re inclined to trust the gays.

Indeed, their scent not only features hints of pumpkin pie and brown sugar, but each small-batch candle is hand-poured with a wooden wick. A portion from each sale supports LGBTQ+ organizations.

3. Phil Dunster on Ted Lasso

Why did no one tell me THIS was happening on the newest season of Ted Lasso? I swear, it’s like my straight friends (read: the only people I know who subscribe to Apple TV) don’t even care about me.

4. “DIRTY LAUNDRY” by Greyson Chance

ICYMI: Greyson Chance is gearing up for his gayest musical era yet with his new album BOYSTOWN, dropping September 25.

So far, he’s blessed us with a handful of sensual, sonically exciting, and capital H-word tunes, like the evocative “Jock P*rn.” But my favorite is “Dirty Laundry.”

The spinning and groovy bop is a kiss-off to an old lover, perfect for liberated dancing, crying at the club, and, yes, celebrating that you’ll never have to touch an ex’s, well, dirty laundry!

5. Straight Talk

Dolly Parton ditches her small-town life and accidentally stumbles into a gig as a radio talk-show host in Chicago? Say less.

As far as the late singer’s filmography goes, 1992’s Straight Talk, now streaming on Prime Video, is criminally underrated, but a recent viewing reminded me that it’s a heartwarming and surprisingly queer-inclusive flick, filled with classic Dollyisms and an absolute banger of a title track.

6. Practical Magic T-Shirt

The title on every gay and girl’s lips this weekend is Practical Magic 2, and for good reason. Not only is the new film a highly-anticipated sequel to one our favorite cozy and spooky comfort watches, it stars Certified Mothers Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. (Props to them both for an especially gay-centered press tour, in which they speculated who’s the top and bottom.)

That said, it’ll be hard for the second chapter to beat the spirit of the original, which is why this graphic tee featuring its iconic 1998 poster ($24.90 on Hot Topic) was an immediate add-to-cart.

7. Zachary Gordon’s glow-up

Actor Zachary Gordon is best known for his role in Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but his glow-up is giving Confessions of a Hunky Man. This week, the 28-year-old showed off his physique ahead of an upcoming ACL reconstruction surgery and was instantly bombarded by gay thirst tweets. (Notably, his mom even texted him an article of dudes begging for him to start an OF.)

8. Oh yeah? by Steve Lacy

When it comes to curating impeccable vibes, no musician does it quite like queer alt-R&B singer-songwriter Steve Lacy. I’m pleased to report his self-produced new album Oh yeah?, available on opaque grey vinyl for $34.98 from Urban Outfitters, is both the perfect soundtrack for your chill (and not-so-chill) nights at home and an instant must-have for your record collection.

9. Next Gen NYC Season 2

I might be too old to actually hang with the affluent and stylish twenty-something influencers and Real Housewives offspring who make up the cast of Bravo’s Next Gen NYC, but that doesn’t mean I can’t pretend we’re friends.

Accordingly, I could gossip about the second season, now streaming on Peacock, ad nauseam. There’s messy hookups, dramatic breakups, intense confrontations at Rocky Horror Show performances, and lots of shots of the crew’s resident gay, Brooks Marks, minding his own business. Now’s the perfect time to catch up ahead of this season’s two-part reunion, which premieres on September 16.
