The Rise of Queen Charlotte!

In the prequel, audiences will be introduced to a young Charlotte (played by India Amarteifio) before her wedding to King George (Corey Mylchreest). The series will also explore the Monarch’s friendship with Lady Agatha Danbury – who fans of the Bridgerton franchise know to be one of the most powerful women in the Ton. Even before her reign, Danbury is there for the Queen as a loyal friend and advisor. Adjoa Andoh reprises her role, and out actress Arsema Thomas makes her television debut as young Agatha.

In addition to delivering another swoon-worthy romance full of angst and steamy make-outs, Queen Charlotte will also explain the history of the Ton. AKA, how Charlotte and George’s reign created the “current” version of London we see in Bridgerton today.

Rosheuvel previously spoke with Digital Spy about the power of this prequel story.

“I think especially in the world that we are in now, to celebrate Black History is really really important, and through a female protagonist, female historical character. I think is really cool and beautiful and right on and it’s an extraordinary story because as we’ve said it’s one of love which is very rare I think. And to know that these two people were passionate about each other way way way way way back in the 18th century and they wanted to be together, and they were a mixed couple you know and they wanted to celebrate that and the great experiment happened.”
