A gay couple in New York City are in the running to win the accolade of “America’s Favorite Couple.”
Evan Enslow and Aaron Prior are both bartenders who live in Manhattan. They met three years ago on Scruff. They quickly realized they both had at least one thing in common: They’d both previously dated the same guy!

At first, they dated long-distance, as Aaron was in South Jersey. Now they live together and got engaged two months ago.
To pop the question, Aaron made a movie about their relationship, hired a theater, and invited family and friends to witness the surprise proposal.
Should the men go all the way and win the “America’s Favorite Couple” contest, they’d scoop $20,000. They say they’d want to spend this on their wedding. They’d also get to tell their story to Variety and enjoy a triple date dinner in the Hollywood Hills with celebrity ambassadors: Jeff and Emilie Goldblum and Charlie Day and Mary Elizabeth Ellis.
The competition is run by Colossal. It runs several similar competitions (America’s Favorite Teacher, America’s Favorite Chef, etc). Thousands of people submit entries, share a little about their story, and people vote online. You can cast one vote per day for free. Casting more votes costs money ($10 for ten votes, $25 for 25 votes, etc).
Proceeds go to charity. It’s basically a fun way for non-profits to raise funds. The organizations benefiting from ‘America’s Favorite Couple’ are the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and conservation group Oceana.
Here are Evan and Aaron talking with New York’s PIX11 News yesterday about edging ahead in the contest. They’ve taken to walking around Manhattan with T-shirts encouraging people to vote for them.

Evan told Queerty this was their first year entering ‘America’s Favorite Couple’, which only launched in 2025.
“As it is the second year, and last year’s winners were a heterosexual couple, we would be the first LGBTQ couple to win. We think it would be awesome to set the bar that high, that in just the second year a gay couple won!”
“We are in the quarterfinals now, which conclude this Thursday at 7pm PST. There will be semi-finals and then finals after that. The votes reset for each bracket. Only first place from each group moves to the next round. The entire contest ends on September 10th.”

There is another same-sex couple in the same group, Brenna and Cindy. They’re currently in seventh place. They don’t provide a link to their social media that we can share. The women have been together for 29 years and would like to use the money to help their kids. You can also vote for them and find out more about their story here.
Other quarterfinal groups have a smattering of same-sex couples but right now, Evan and Aaron appear to be the only queer couple topping a group.
This sounds like a novel and cute way to raise money for good causes, so here’s wishing well to all competing couples. That said, it would be empowering to see a queer couple scoop the final honor, right?
