These gay nurses are getting pulses racing in honor of National Nurses Week

If our pulses are racing and our temperature is rising, it’s because we just rounded up cute pics of gay nurses on social media to celebrate National Nurses Week!
As the American Nurses Association explains, National Nurses Week has been around in some incarnation since 1954. And in 1990, the association began celebrating the annual occasion on the week from May 6 to May 12.
Why those dates? May 12 was the birthdate of the Florence “Lady with the Lamp” Nightingale, the Victorian-era nurse who helped develop modern nursing. And while we should be appreciating our nurses every day of the year, this week is a prime opportunity to make them feel especially loved up.
We’re happy to report many LGBT nurses seem content in the workplace. “Nursing is also one of the most accepting careers of LGBT people,” one gay nurse wrote ina recent r/nursing thread on Reddit. “It might depend on where you live, but generally nurses are very empathetic people and fully embracing of you being your true self.”

Another Reddit user wrote, “I’ve been a nurse for ten years I’m also gay and trans. … As for the job itself, I love it and probably always will. I know healthcare is overwhelming, especially post-COVID, but there’s just so many options I can’t imagine doing anything else.”
A third person chimed in to say, “Hello, gay male nurse here. It’s absolutely a choice I would make again. Ignore the negativity; it exists in some places but not all. I work at a hospital with a great union, I have awesome and supportive coworkers, [and] I have awesome and supportive management.”
