All of New York City’s a runway for Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and the cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2 as the highly anticipated sequel began filming all over town this past week.

With production underway, locals have become amateur paparazzi snapping shots of the stars on set, while the internet has taken to critiquing fashion choices and sleuthing for hints about what the plot might entail.

By the way, Meryl? She’s looking va-va-voom at 76… Martin Short is one lucky guy!

How about we take this to the next level?

What we do know is that most of the main cast from the 2006 original is returning—including Emily Blunt, Tracie Thoms, and zaddy Stanley Tucci—and that the plot will see Streep’s Anna Wintour-like Miranda Priestly struggling to keep print media alive while sparking a rivalry with her former assistant Emily Charlton (Blunt), now heading up a fashion editorial empire of her own.

And there are plenty of other fresh faces set for the sequel, ready to incur Miranda’s wrath: Among them are actor-director Kenneth Branagh as the Mr. Prisetly, plus Lucy Liu (Charlie’s Angels), Justin Theroux (Mulholland Drive), Simone Ashley (Bridgerton), Pauline Chalamet (The Sex Lives Of College Girls), BJ Novak (The Office), Conrad Ricamora (Oh, Mary!), Helen J. Shen (Maybe Happy Ending), and comedian Caleb Hearon.

We’re finally getting a sequel to ‘The Devil Wears Prada.’ Now, let’s talk about that plot…
The long-anticipated sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada” finally has a release date, but will it live up to our gayspectations?

But that’s not all: With all this footage leaking from set, fans have also discovered that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend‘s Rachel Bloom and Colin From Accounts‘ Patrick Brammal will be appearing, too, which has since been confirmed.

What’s that you say? Darren Criss and Chris Colfer are also in the sequel? And Jinkx Monsoon?? And Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Madonna, and Britney Spears??? Wait, what exactly is going on here?

Well, dear reader, you simply can’t believe everything you read on social media… With all the excitement around the influx of leaked The Devil Wears Prada 2 pics, it’s become a meme to fake that other celebrities have been spotted filming for the project.

It’s quite simple, really: find a candid of someone walking down a city street—preferably NYC—make sure they’re wearing something loud & fashion-forward, and tweet that it’s a “first look” of them on the set of the movie. And voila! You have your Devil Wears Prada photo fake-out!

Before you start calling these X users the real villains, they’re not necessarily trying to trick you—it’s more that it’s an incredibly low lift for participating in the meme du jour. And, hot tip: An easy way to know if these are real or not is that a lot of the fakes are coming directly from stan accounts. So, no, @SabrinacAccess did not just break the news that Sabrina Carpenter is cameo-ing in the movie.

And once you accept that most of these are made up, they’re honestly pretty hilarious. For example…

Here’s the funny thing: Now that all of these fakes have flooded our timelines, how are we going to know if a big celebrity really did turn up on set? It’s going to turn into a “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” situation!

So maybe the silver lining here is that we actually could be surprised by some A-list cameos in The Devil Wears Prada 2 after all? A girl can dream!

We’ll have to wait until May 1, 2026 to know for sure, when The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters, almost exactly 20 years after the original’s release.
