A TikToker didn’t recognize Troye Sivan in the wild, and things got awkward quickly

Recently, while promoting his perfume launch with his sister Sage in New York, Sivan was spotted by man-on-the-street style TikToker JudiJupiter who had…zero idea who this gay icon was.
Judi chatted Troye up, talked about how she recently met “two hot guys” from Melbourne, and proceeded to have no sense of just how famous this man is the entire time. She even implied that Troye could be doing more to boost his visibility, somehow unaware that he lives rent free in every gay person’s head.

Commenters, of course, instantly started screaming their recognition of the “Rush” singer. “Just a casual Troye Sivan sighting in the wild??” one commenter wrote. The envy is palpable.
“Judi this is Troye Sivan,” one poster stated. “Casually met Troye Sivan,” another said. “Judi he’s super famous I hope you know that.”
Reader, she DIDN’T know that. She didn’t even have an inkling.
“It’s so funny when someone doesn’t recognize that they’re speaking with a celebrity,” someone else said. “For example, Troye had no idea he was talking to THEE JudiJupiter.”
Indeed he did not! Troye was simply kind, patient, and even indulged Judi’s request for him and his sister to do a twirl at the end. You know someone’s actually a good person when they’ll do a twirl on request—from a stranger no less!
But in the commenters, one poster called it like they saw it.
“I know this is marketing,” they wrote, “but I love it anyway.” Another commenter quickly disputed this claim, saying that Judi simply walks around New York looking for “hot people” to talk to. Goals!
Commenters are torn currently between wondering if it’s all a setup to hawk the new perfume line, believing Troye is just a genuinely lovely guy who patiently lets randos talk to him, and congratulating Troye on meeting the one, the only JudiJupiter. It’s not every humble, everyday folk like Troye Sivan get to meet internationally famous icons like Judi.

Seriously though, Judi has some pretty serious credentials of her own. Before she started bumping into celebrities on the streets of New York, she was one of the first female photographers to work in-house at the legendary Studio 54, snapping shots of icons like Billy Idol, Meatloaf, and James Brown.
Judi is absolutely for the gays, as her previous videos proudly illustrate.
Whether or not the exchange with Troye was as random as it seems, we can all agree that it’s very charming. Troye’s bashful nature, his sister beaming next to him about their joint perfume venture, the awkward twirl at the end. We come to TikTok for exactly this kind of magic.
Do we wish the conversation between Judi and Troye concerning the hotness of Melbourne men had lasted a little bit longer? Yes. But look, you can’t have everything. This meeting of the minds was a gift from the gods, and we shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
