“Baby, you can’t banish the doll!”: 5 of the shadiest, funniest Queerties Awards mainstage moments

Shady moments, hilarious moments

For almost 15 years, the Queerties Awards have served up some of the sassiest, shadiest pop culture moments. With so many star-studded nominees representing the best of queer culture, can you blame us for getting hilarious on occasion? We’ve got plenty of moments to choose from, but here are some of the most side-splitting moments from Queerties past that us rolling on the floor gagging.

Plane Jane drags the Queerties

Plane Jane flew away with our hearts from the first time we caught sight of her on RuPaul’s Drag Race: the doll keeps it real, padded, and extra hilarious, and Plane’s Queerties win speech was no exception. “I want to say obviously thank you so much, and f*ck you for using this picture of me,” Plane joked. Oops!

“It’s hard for me to have an earnest moment…but it’s crazy having all of you just look at me and perceive me.”

Honestly, the pleasure was 100% ours, Plane.

Mikey Angelo raps the year down (boots)

TikTok sensation Mikey Angelo has a way of nailing viral pop culture moments in song—which is why he was the natural choice for announcing entertainment category winners in style at the 2025 Queerties. “Comedy movies had the queers laughin’,” Angelo rhymed. “And the winner is The Substance—eat that, Mikey Madison.”

It didn’t stop there. When Angelo announced Omar Rudberg as the winner for Best Music Video, he summed things up perfectly: “From one twink to another, you ate.”

Jinkx Monsoon drags Frankie Grande

In 2024, Jinkx Monsoon set the stage for a hilarious evening by dragging Queerties attendees for filth. “Every gay, they, and gworl in Los Angeles is here tonight,” Jinkx began her opening monologue, “and not because they’re getting paid…LA queers would show up to an Arby’s if there was a red carpet.”

Spotting queer LA scene staple Frankie Grande, Jinkx went in for the kill. “Earlier tonight they unrolled the red carpet and wouldn’t you know it, Frankie Grande just rolled on out of it. He’s been stuck in there since the Grammys!” In this community, dragging each other is a love language, and Jinkx does it better than anyone else.

Bob the Drag Queen won’t be banished

When Bob the Drag Queen took the stage to host the 2025 Queerties, he came prepared…with a full cloak and dagger tribute to his recent run on The Traitors. “Can you believe there’s a show I didn’t win?” the drag legend joked. “I walked in like, ‘baby you can’t banish the doll!'” Bob kept things moving at a brisk, hilarious pace proceeding to tear the current administration to shreds. “Today I’m going to be renaming the Gulf of Mexico,” Bob said, “it shall now be called Darien Lake.” So it is written, and so it shall be done!

Kathy Griffin werks the world

Viewers of the 2019 Queerties didn’t think it could get much better after John Waters icon Traci Lords took the stage to introduce her close friend Kathy Griffin. But the minute Griffin took the stage with a “STFU gays, I’m here!” the bar was raised. Taking the stage in an Oscar de la Renta dress, Griffin proceeded to gag us with her Resiliency Award acceptance speech. Life on the D List never looked so good—or sounded so hilarious.
