Who says baseball has to be boring? Detractors of America’s pastime complain about the speed and entertainment value presented on the diamond, but that’s where the barnstorming Banana Ball league has revolutionized the game.

Think of the theatrics the Harlem Globetrotters brought to basketball back in the mid-to-late 20th century. That’s what teams like the Loco Beach Coconuts have brought to exhibition baseball, and the studs who play in this barnstorming league even get to flaunt their bodies to get more views.

Outfielder Tanner Allen posted on Instagram that his jersey sales are struggling. What was his solution? Take his jersey off and play a game shirtless.

Allen and the rest of the guys on the Coconuts are actual baseball players with plenty of accomplishments playing actual baseball. Allen was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the fourth round of the 2021 MLB draft.

He also played collegiately for the Mississippi State Bulldogs and won a national championship with them in 2021. After he didn’t make an MLB roster, it looks like he put his great looks to good use.

Allen isn’t the only hot guy on the Coconuts. In fact, being young and hot almost seems to be a prerequisite to playing for one of the six teams in Banana Ball.

Allen’s teammate in the first IG post, Kaden Bowler, is also shirtless and a certified cutie. He often posts videos having fun with his adorable nephew when he’s not on the field for the Coconuts.

Banana Ball is growing every year and might even be helping MLB in the long run. Some of the games in this league are selling tickets for higher prices than huge clashes between the Yankees and Dodgers.

The players, such as Tanner Allen, and the people who run the league understand how to appeal to the casual fan in ways that MLB has sometimes forgotten how to do.

If that means more players combining physical appeal with playing sports, we’re clearly all for it!
