The event raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the LGBTQ Center on Halsted.

The annual Santo Speedo Run took place in Chicago last Saturday. 2025 marked the run’s 14th anniversary. Several hundred competitors gathered at the beloved gay bar, Sidetrack. Doors opened at noon for people to register or to sign in.
Runners, undeterred by the snow outside, then stripped down and embarked on a one-mile sprint around the East Lakeview neighborhood.

The event was hosted by Debbie Fox with assistance from Boy J and Cole Nelson. Sasha Love also provided some late afternoon entertainment.

There was also a prize-giving element to the afternoon, with the biggest fundraisers revealed. The event’s founders, Jeff Colgan and his husband Karl Sponholtz, were also presented with a surprise award for their work over the years.
Among those in attendance were the Chicago chapter of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and Emmy winner and NBC on-air personality Matthew Rodrigues.

All the money raised goes toward helping The Center On Halsted, the city’s long-running and groundbreaking LGBTQ center.
Organisers hoped to raise a record-breaking $200,000 at this year’s event. However, they were still totting up the final figure at the time of going to press.
