Diving champ Bryden Hattie thongs out on cheeky vacay in L.A.

Thongs for the win.

While Bryden Hattie contemplates his athletic future, the NCAA diving champ is still getting wet.

To kick off summer, Mr. “y la queso” enjoyed a cheeky vacay in L.A., and approached the City of Angels with his irresistible effervescence–and showed off plenty of skin, of course!

Relaxing on a raft in a rooftop pool with a view of the city skyline, Hattie was sporting nothing more than a tan Dodgers hat and black thong speedo. Much like his very fashionable mullet, his skimpy swimwear allowed for a full party in the back. “Showing LAPD where to land,” he wrote in his IG caption.

It looks like the runway is all clear!

How about we take this to the next level?

A five-time All-American, Hattie, who competed at the University of Tennessee, has four SEC titles to his name. Since his college career, he’s been pursuing another passion of his: being an all-around “it girl.”

In particular, Hattie blossomed during multiple trips to Chile. He first visited the mountainous South American country in 2023 for the Pan American Games, an international sports competition held every four years. The Canadian native went viral for goofing around the capital city of Santiago, dancing on trains and filming collabs with his bestie, Team USA diver Tyler Downs.

Over the ensuing years, Hattie has returned to Chile twice. He’s taken a profound interest in the country and its people, undergoing many adventures, including his first time performing drag. Locals call him “y la queso.” Hattie says it means “it girl,” though he’s not 100% sure. “It’s one of those vibes,” he previously told Queerty. “I was confused at the start.”

Bryden Hattie’s energy is infectious!

With over 210,000 followers on TikTok and IG, Hattie draws people in with his delightfully confusing chaos. When I spoke with him last year, he said he’s most into gay memes and brain rot. He has a tattoo that says “that’s hot” in tiny letters.

Fittingly, we have a similar reaction whenever Hattie shows up on our feeds.

With the 2028 L.A. Games two years away, Hattie still has time to decide whether he wants to try and compete for Team Canada. He still dives like an NCAA champ, effortlessly flipping off of the board and landing with a clean splash.

In a possible example of foreshadowing, Hattie seems like he loved his recent stint in L.A. His multiple IG carousals show him lounging poolside, enjoying the city’s nightlife and basking in the beauty around him.

Growing up on British Columbia, Hattie learned to love nature from a young age. He feels more ambivalent, however, about hiking.

“I love nature. I find the hardest part is getting motivated to do a hike, though,” he said. “I like getting to the view or the spot, but I’m not about the hike.”

Despite his misgivings, it’s easy to imagine Hattie hiking up Runyon Canyon or exploring Griffith Park. The views from those spots are immaculate–just like him!
