“Don’t be so f***ing ridiculous”: Adele slams audience member for being homophobic

Adele kicked off Pride Month by effortlessly shutting down a homophobic audience member.

For the last decade, the ‘Someone Like You’ singer has made massive waves within the music industry.

From her four critically acclaimed albums to her numerous awards, the vocal powerhouse has cemented herself as a legend in the making.

In addition to her expansive career as one of music’s most in-demand artists, Adele has earned a reputation for her unapologetic support of the LGBTQIA+ community.

On 1 June, the beloved talent showcased her dedicated allyship during her recent Weekends with Adele show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

After a concertgoer screamed “Pride sucks,” the ‘I Drink Wine’ singer wasted no time shutting them down.

“Did you come to my f***ing show and just say that Pride sucks? Are you f***ing stupid?” she exclaimed in a video uploaded by Pop Base.

“Don’t be so f***ing ridiculous. If you have nothing nice to say, shut up, alright?”

Of course, fans on social media showered Adele with praise for her iconic reaction.

One person on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “Imagine ADELE saying this to you oh i would just disappear.”

Another fan tweeted: “That’s mother for you always an ally.”

A third user added: “I feel like this is the perfect example of why we continue to talk about Pride.”

Adele’s recent show isn’t the first time she has expressed support for her queer fans.

Back in 2016, she described the LGBTQ+ community as her soulmates during a performance dedicated to the victims of the tragic Pulse Nightclub shootings.

“I would like to start tonight by dedicating this entire show to everybody in Orlando and at Pulse nightclub last night… The LGBTQ+ community, they’re like my soulmates since I was really young, so I’m very moved by it,” she said.

She also became ordained so she could officiate the ceremony of her close friend and comedian Alan Carr.

Lastly, in 2011, Adele described her chart-topping single, ‘Set Fire to the Rain,’ as a “gay anthem” during a show supporting her Grammy-winning album 21, per the Londonist.

*UPDATE*

Shortly after the video went viral, a handful of fans who attended the 1 June concert revealed that the individual shouted “work sucks” and not “Pride sucks.”

“Hate to defend a m*n, but the guy was somewhere behind me, and he said “work sucks” not “pride sucks,” one user wrote. She also included a video of the moment for further clarification.

Another concertgoer, who was sitting in the section with the individual, echoed similar sentiments, adding: “Yeah, I was in the section next to him. He said work sucks because she mentioned something about working. It was all very awkward.”
