Is it better to top or bottom? Olympic lugers answer the question on everyone’s mind

German double luge stars Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt have wonderfully playful banter where they discuss their roles in the sled. The post Is it better to top or bottom? Olympic lugers answer the question on everyone’s mind appeared first on Outsports.

Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt have won six Olympic gold medals competing in the men’s double luge, an event that might be the gayest Winter Olympic sport when it comes to innuendo, as the “Two Tobis” playfully acknowledge with an awesome video describing their roles.

Wendl is technically the “front driver” in the sled and Arlt the “back driver,” but top and bottom is a much more accurate description of their roles, where Wendl lays on top of Arlt as the sled hurls down the course at up to 90 mph.

In a TikTok video that has gone viral, the Tobis banter back and forth about being a top and bottom.

“We’re showing you what the top man and the bottom and do,” they say in the video and then answer some questions from an off-camera questioner, often finishing each other’s sentence (understandable since they’ve been a team for 25 years).

They end the video by posing the question to their followers: “Who do you think is more important? The top man or the bottom man?”

“Seated rivalry,” one commenter on TikTok wrote.

As for the big question: Are they a couple? Alas, no, both are married to women with kids. But it’s clear they are quite comfortable and successful with their roles in the sled.
