A confrontation between a MAGA social media personality and a West Hollywood couple holding an infant escalated into a physical altercation Thursday night, leading to the arrest of one of the men involved, according to statements from those present and video shared online.
A video posted on social media by political commentator Ryley Niemi, which had drawn more than 100,000 views as of Friday, shows Niemi approaching Anthony Vulin, a member of West Hollywood’s Business License Commission, and his husband David Vulin on Santa Monica Boulevard while Anthony Vulin is holding the couple’s baby.
The video shows Niemi questioning them about raising a child without a mother, asking whether they were aware of claims that gay male parents are statistically more likely to be child molesters and asking whether they paid a surrogate to have a child. The exchange becomes increasingly tense before David Vulin shoves Niemi. The clip then cuts to a full on fight in which David Vulin is seen striking Niemi in the head.
The New York Post reports:
“On April 16, 2026, what started as a routine interaction quickly escalated into a violent encounter,” according to a GoFundMe about the incident. “Ryley was physically assaulted, and the situation became serious enough that over a dozen emergency responders arrived at the scene.” It added, “In the middle of the incident, one of our primary cameras, a Sony A7C II, was completely destroyed.”
In the clip, the influencer was attacked by one of the gay parents seconds after he dropped a stat claiming “gay men are statistically much more likely to commit child molestation” and pressed if the two men had paid $50,000 to a woman to be pregnant. One of the gay parents then questioned who he was and threatened to “kick his a–,” before Ryley said they chased after him.

The couple says that Niemi called them anti-gay slurs and that they are the victims of a hate crime.
One of them was charged with felony vandalism for breaking the camera, which they deny having done.
