There’s a no-fail rule to having fun in LGBTQ+ nightlife: If a drag queen is there, it’s going to be a good time.
Perhaps that’s why Bushwig, an annual two-day-long drag festival in Brooklyn, has quickly grown into New York City‘s can’t-miss, end-of-summer party.
This year’s event, which ran from August 23 to 24, was a testament to how the community has grown. During a year when queer artists (and the community at large) need support more than ever, the energy was electric.

Bushwig took over both Knockdown Center and 3 Dollar Bill with non-stop DJs, dance parties, vendors like Trojan, and stunning drag from artists like Roxxxy Andrews, Lana Ja’Rae, Miss Ma’amShe, Megami, and Sasha Velour.
Plus, it was a moment of celebration for rising drag artists —including Mariyea and Sweaty Eddie, who were crowned Miss and Mister Bushwig 2025, respectively — and DJs like Robyn Sin Love, Luis Fernando, Boyish Charm, and Rayne, who held down the Champagne Room with beats and unbridled queer joy.
It might have been the weekend before Labor Day, but let us assure you, every attendee — from the stage to the crowds — was putting in WERK.
