[PHOTOS] Southern Decadence celebrated the end of summer with lots of skin, sun, and sexy outfits
What began as a simple going-away party between a few friends, has blossomed into one of the most anticipated celebrations of the year.
New Orleans’ five-day Southern Decadence blow-out celebration in the city’s historic French Quarter attracted LGBTQ+ from around the world, their supporters, friends, family, neighbors, and locals.
As always, the revelry peaked at the gay epicenter of LGBTQ+ New Orleans: the intersection of Bourbon and St. Ann. The corner is the location of the Bourbon Pub and Parade (celebrating 50 years as NOLA gay ground zero), the famed Oz New Orleans dance club, and the more laid-back Good Friends Bar down the block on Dauphine. All three locations were packed over the Labor Day festival weekend.
The year’s theme was “Birds of a Feather Flock Together,” represented in numerous plumage-adorned, yet barely-there costumes. The 2024 Grand Marshals were Vanessa Carr Kennedy, Paribe Meyer, and Jeffrey Mayeux. Tony Award-winning actor and singer Billy Porter performed at select clubs and starred in the Sunday afternoon parade.
