On Thursday, September 5th, leading queer style magazine dapperQ returned to Brooklyn Museum for the ninth year to present the largest LGBTQIA+ fashion show during New York Fashion Week, aptly titled Nine.
After a happy hour hosted by Henrietta Hudson, New York City’s longest-standing brick-and-mortar lesbian bar, the runway show kicked off with new designs by ALEGRÍA, FreeMen by Mickey, Soid Studios, Zoe Grinfeld, KEITH KELLY, and Transguy Supply. dapperQ’s resident DJ, DJ M.O., provided the beats, and artist, musician, and writer Buffy Sierra emceed the event.
dapperQ aims to inspire people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender presentations to defy the status quo about both queer fashion and beauty as art and visual activism. In the words of Anita Dolce Vita, editor in chief of dapperQ, “dapperQ is a queer fashion revolution, one of the most stylish forms of protest of our generation.”
