[PHOTOS] This year’s ‘Broadway Bares’ starred biceps, pups, and Nicole Scherzinger, oh my!

The annual fundraiser transformed Oz into a vibrant, queer, and nearly nekkid night of celebration.

Dorothy, make way for the New York City gays! That’s precisely what happened on Sunday, June 22, when Hammerstein Ballroom transformed into a yassified yellow brick road for Broadway Bares: Come Out, Come Out.

The annual event, which benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDs, is known for cheeky performances and vibrant costumes (or lack thereof), but something about this year’s Wizard of Oz theme made the mischievous night feel all the more magical.

Drag performers are more than just entertainers: they are activists and community leaders who have helped lift spirits, raise funds, and lead campaigns.

Featuring a cast of more than 200 fierce dancers, this year’s show followed our own Dorothy Dante (played by The Lion King‘s Bradley Gibson) on his journey through the dazzling and queer world of Oz. Throughout his travels, he encountered icons like Gurrrlinda (Todrick Hall), Tony winner Alex Newell, Drag Race alum Peppermint, the Boy Band Project‘s Jesse Corbin, and even Nicole Scherzinger, who revisited her Pussycat Dolls days with a spicy performance of “Buttons” alongside the Sunset Boulevard cast.

Naturally, the Ozians also brought out their emerald-city coin purses; between its two sold-out performances and virtual Stripathon, the show-stopping Broadway Bares performers raised a record-breaking $2,447,967.

Below, we revisit some of the evening’s steamiest (and silliest) moments….
