It’s a bad week to be a MAGA homophobe.
As a blue tsunami washed ashore Tuesday night, some of the most notorious bigots in the country got wiped out. The carnage has continued through the week, as Dems win an increasing number of red seats.
Not even two years ago, Elon Musk was buzzing through the government with a chainsaw and bankers and tech bros alike celebrated their perceived freedom to throw around slurs again. But now, there are Democratic senators from Texas, Ohio, Iowa, South Carolina and Kansas–with Mississippi possibly on the way.
Sorry, “cruel kids.” Pronouns are back in our bios, and your anti-LGBTQ+ hate has been discarded to “trash.”

Elon Musk
Elon Musk may be the world’s richest man. But he’s also the world’s most transphobic dad. His trans daughter Vivian Jenna Wilson called him out on his BS in 2024 and hasn’t stopped. She’s pushed back against her father’s disparaging claims, labeling his bigoted recollections of her childhood “entirely fake.”
Despite having nearly $1 trillion, Wilson, who changed her last name in 2022, says her dad is “desperate for attention and validation.”
Over the last two years, Musk has tried to seek that validation through MAGA. He became Tr*mp’s biggest donor and most visible booster–and even seemed to be the shadow president. The results were disastrous for the country: Musk’s D.O.G.E. cut billions in critical funding, upended the lives of hundreds of thousands of federal workers and didn’t save any money. In fact, Musk’s maniacal quest actually cost the government nearly $7 billion.
In doing so, he became wildly unpopular. And now, he’s in trouble. Musk spent $445 million on Republicans in the midterms and lost nearly every race. His greatest defeats happened in Texas, his new home state, where Democrats won across the ballot. “Elon Musk moved to Texas to escape Democrats,” writes NBC News. “Now they’re in charge.”
Vivian, for one, seems quite pleased with that development.

Ken Paxton & Dan Patrick
It’s hard to think of a more loathsome duo. Though homophobes have lost across the country this week, we want to highlight Ken Paxton and Dan Patrick. The two Texas pols built their careers on discriminating against LGBTQ+ people.
On Tuesday, they were voted out of office.
When Paxton was elected Texas AG, the hard right-winger sued the Obama admin over same-sex marriage benefits and transgender bathroom access. As AG, he fought against the separation of church and state, defending legislation that requires the Ten Commandments to be posted in every classroom. (All the while, he was carrying on an alleged lurid affair and got impeached for abusing the power of his office.)
But Paxton didn’t act alone. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick was his partner the entire way. As Lt. Gov., the second-most powerful post in the state, Patrick championed Texas’ own “Don’t Say Gay” law, a decade’s worth of anti-trans bills, and framed the battle over LGBTQ+ rights in biblical terms.
Much like Paxton, he lost on Tuesday. “The Christian Nationalist agenda is dead,” declares Texas Monthly.

Jesse Watters
Nobody carries more water for Tr*mp and MAGA than, well, Jesse Watters. That’s why it’s so delightful to see the made-up Fox News anchor swallow his words.
The man was in denial until the very end.
“There is no blue tsunami,” he said two weeks ago.
It’s hard for a forecast to be more wrong.
Natalie Harp & obsequious blondes
We know that Tr*mp has a type. While he’s fired women across his administration, he’s kept a bunch of obsequious blondes. None of them personify this type more than Natalie Harp.
Once known as Tr*mp’s personal printer, Harp may now be the most feared woman in the White House. The omnipresent, 35-year-old aid notoriously controls Tr*mp’s information flow, and reportedly fed him phony polls that showed he was the most popular Republican president ever.
At this point, nobody is tied closer to the 80-year-old president than Harp. It looks like she’ll be with him until the bitter end. (Unfortunately, former press sec. Katie Zacharia can’t say the same thing!)
The “cruel kids”
In early 2025, New York magazine chronicled how the “cruel kids” were taking over D.C. and the culture writ large. But this year, young men shifted left more than any other group.
Despite his promises, Tr*mp didn’t deliver for them (almost 90% of the jobs created since his reelection have gone towards women). As it turns out, using the f-slur isn’t so cathartic when you can’t afford rent.
