The Sacramento History Museum marked another Pride month.
@sachistorymuseum June is Pride Month! This year’s Pride Month marks the 57th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising in New York City, a series of events between police and LGBTQ+ protesters that stretched over 6 days. This was following a police raid on the Stonewall Inn on June 28, 1969. This was considered the tipping point for the modern LGBTQ+ movement in the United States. Across the country, cities hold Pride events in June. On June 13-14, Sacramento is holding its Pride festival in Downtown. In honor of Pride Month, Howard letterpress printed “HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!” using wood type made by the Hamilton Wood Type Company in the late 1880s. The typeface is French Clarendon and the type is 15 line pica (2.5 inches) in size. Please note, this type contains battered marks and those marks do not print as clear as type in pristine condition. This was printed with a gradient of four colors of ink using our Washington hand press, which was manufactured in 1852. #SacHistoryMuseum #pridemonth #museumtok #printing #sacramento ♬ original sound – Sacramento History Museum
