Troye Sivan has set the record straight regarding a Grindr-based blind item.
On 14 September, the Aussie superstar and pop icon Charli XCX kicked off their joint North American tour, Sweat, in Detroit, Michigan.
Like their summer performances, the setlist consists of tracks from their extensive catalogue – including their critically acclaimed albums Something To Give Each Other and BRAT.
While the tour has already received rave reviews from fans and critics, it has also been subjected to outlandish rumours, like Sivan’s motivations for the batch of shows.
On 14 September, the 28-year-old talent took to his TikTok account to shut down an online blind item – which was covered by TikTok account Celebritea Blinds – that targeted Sweat’s ticket sales and his alleged excitement to “hit Grindr” at every tour stop.
“Straight people are getting way too comfortable. I released an album. I am touring the album with Charli XCX. We are playing 22 shows across the country that are 95% sold out by the way. The only city we’re flopping in is Nashville, and it’s at 78%,” he exclaimed.
“But to say that I am touring the country to go on Grindr at every stop, like that’s genuinely homophobic. It’s a stereotype. Don’t sex shame me.”
Sivan went on to say that he has no trouble “getting laid” and doesn’t need to travel the country to do so.
“I can get laid wherever I want. I can get laid in LA. I’m going on tour because I released an album and because people are buying tickets to come see the show. So f**k you,” he continued.

“Also, this is not for her. This is a general note: if you say twink when you meant to say f****t, that’s still a slur. That’s like our word. I don’t think straight people should be using that.”
It didn’t take long for fans to swarm Sivan’s comment section with supportive messages.
One fan wrote: “Everything about this clapback is * chef’s kiss.*”
Another follower commented: “Genuinely so confused about the tour is flopping narrative bc my friends and I looked for tickets in 3 diff cities, and they were all sold out !!!!!”
A third fan added: “I love seeing celebrities calling out this kind of stuff!! More of this please!”
Even Grindr showcased support for Sivan, writing: “period.”
Consisting of 31 tracks, the Sweat tour features a total of 10 acts, with Sivan taking the first half of he show and Charli leading the second half.
Some of the songs featured in their electric show include ‘One Of Your Girls,’ ‘Rush,’ ‘Von Dutch,’ ‘365,’ ‘My My My!,’ ‘Guess Remix’ and ‘I Love It’.
The Sweat tour will conclude on 23 October in Seattle, Washington.
