Tim Curry’s Cause of Death Revealed; Friends and Co-Stars Remember the Late Icon
Tim Curry’s cause of death has been confirmed as tributes continue to pour in for the legendary performer.

New details have emerged about Tim Curry’s death. According to documents from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health obtained by People, the beloved actor died from coronary artery disease. Curry died Aug. 25 at his home in Los Angeles’ Toluca Lake neighborhood. He was 80.
The records also listed kidney cancer and a history of stroke as contributing conditions, though neither was identified as the underlying cause of his death. The documents noted that Curry had not undergone surgery for any of the three conditions.
Curry had experienced ongoing health challenges since suffering a major stroke in 2012. The stroke affected his mobility and led him to use a wheelchair, but he continued working as a voice actor and connecting with fans through public appearances. Tributes Pour In for Tim Curry
In the days following his death, friends, former co-stars and fellow performers shared heartfelt tributes celebrating his unforgettable talent, sharp humor and generous spirit.
Susan Sarandon, who starred as Janet Weiss alongside Curry in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, remembered him as both an incomparable performer and a deeply kind person.

“What a funny, sexy, original he was,” Sarandon wrote on Instagram. “But what I loved about him most was his heart. Even wheelchair-bound, he continued to be so sweet and generous with his fans. Thank you Tim for meaning so much to so many people.”
Barry Bostwick, who played Brad Majors, honored Curry by referencing lyrics from “Over at the Frankenstein Place.”
“‘The river was deep but you swam it … the road was long but you ran it.’ Dammit Tim, I love you!” Bostwick wrote.
Patricia Quinn, who portrayed Magenta, said she was “in shock and utterly saddened and heartbroken” by Curry’s death.
Luke Evans also paid tribute after recently completing his own Broadway run as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Show. Evans called Curry “a force, a bright fierce flame” whose work inspired generations of performers.
“There will only be one Tim Curry,” Evans wrote. “All the rest of us will just have to do our best to emulate some of the magic of that role that I’ve just spent seven months playing.”
Curry originated the role of Frank-N-Furter onstage before bringing the character to the screen in the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The fearless performance made him a queer cultural icon and helped turn the film’s midnight screenings into welcoming spaces for LGBTQ+ audiences.
His celebrated career also included memorable performances in Clue, Annie, It and Muppet Treasure Island, along with voice roles in The Wild Thornberrys and FernGully: The Last Rainforest.
