The Salt Lake Tribune reports:
Incumbent Layton Republican state Rep. Trevor Lee of Layton, who has stirred controversy with his online persona since he first campaigned for the post four years ago, will leave the Legislature in 2027 after losing to challenger Davis County Commissioner Bob Stevenson.
Lee, who is currently in his second term, has drawn supporters with his inflammatory social media persona. He previously ran a personal social media account from which he made derogatory comments about women and LGBTQ+ people.
The Layton lawmaker made headlines during the most recent legislative session for a bill that aimed to prevent immigrants lacking permanent legal status from receiving public benefits, including vaccines, health coverage and food aid, and another that initially would have effectively erased transgender people from public life.

Last year the city reacted to a statewide ban on Pride flags by incorporating a Pride flag as an official city flag. That ban on Pride flags was authored by, you guessed it, Rep. Trevor Lee.
Utah Rep. Trevor Lee, who has stirred controversy with his online persona since he first campaigned for the post four years ago, has lost his primary election.
