Whoops! This Kash Patel Charlie Kirk screw up is even worse than his Olympics scandal
Yet another taxpayer-funded "joyride" screwed up the Kirk investigation royally

Last fall, right wing darling and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was killed during an early stop of his “The American Comeback” tour in Utah. But according to a whistleblower, the FBI’s response time would have been much quicker were it not for FBI Director Kash Patel’s own flights causing a pilot shortage.
“The FBI’s shooting reconstruction team was asked to fly to Utah to aid the investigation process the scene,” explains the insider breaking their silence on Patel’s “irresponsible joyriding” in a statement issued Wednesday. “The team’s deployment was delayed by at least a day because of a Bureau plane and pilot shortage caused by [Patel’s] personal flights.”
The information was relayed to Democratic senator Dick Durbin of Illinois, who accused Patel of standing in the way of high profile investigations—including the Brown campus shooting last December—by using FBI jets for personal use.
Knowing what we know about Patel’s recent, embarrassing Olympics scandal, it certainly tracks. After footage of Patel crashing New Jersey devils hockey star Jack Hughes’ winter Olympics afterparty started circulating, things didn’t look too good for the party-loving FBI director. Instead of probing the many Tr*mp-related tidbits in the Epstein files, Patel took off on an estimated $400,000 joyride to party with athletes and guzzle champagne in Milan. Before that, in November of 2025, Patel used an FBI jet to fly to Pennsylvania to watch his girlfriend sing at a wrestling show.

It’s easy to assume that Tr*mp appointees are pulling this kind of stuff behind the scenes all the time, but in Patel’s case, the paper trail is getting long and painfully obvious. DNC rapid response director Kendall Witner summed up exactly what everyone was thinking with her comments about Patel being “happy to use Americans as a blank cheque to party and get drunk in Italy or visit his girlfriend while everyday Americans are tightening their wallets to get by in D*n*ld Tr*mp’s economy.”
While the White House is busy defending Patel’s last-minute trip to Milan by claiming he was also doing business in Italy while enjoying the Olympics, the new intel about the delayed response to Kirk’s shooting is much harder to explain away. While FBI directors need to have a certain amount of flexibility in where and how they travel, Patel’s recent mess-ups are eerily reminiscent of a 90s scandal involving Clinton-era director William Sessions. In 1993, Sessions was fired after then-attorney general William Barr found that Sessions and his wife “used the FBI plane to take personal trips and then sought to characterize these trips as ‘official’ to avoid reimbursing the government.”
But apparently it’s fine when Patel does it. As long as he’s doing what he seems to have been primarily hired to do—protect Tr*mp from Epstein files-related fallout by firing other FBI employees who know a little too much about past Tr*mp investigations—it seems like he’s not going anywhere. Unless the entire administration somehow ends up falling apart, which could happen sooner than we think.
Patel had better get any future planned joyrides booked now, because soon enough, he’ll be stuck paying full price for coach with the rest of us.
