The world-renowned ski resort of Telluride played host to its annual Gay Ski Week at the start of this month.

The event, which has been running since 2002, is one of the best-known gay ski events in North America. Telluride is located in a remote box canyon in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado. It’s a snowy paradise for all lovers of skiing, snowboarding, and other wintery pursuits.

Besides the expected activities on the slopes, the week offers a whole array of sporty things to do. This includes ice skating, snowshoeing, fat tire biking, sleigh rides, snowmobiling, and winter fly-fishing.

Apres-ski

If that all sounds a little too strenuous, there are also spa sessions, guided historical walks, plus a whole raft of apres-ski socializing. This includes dance parties, stand-up comedy, drag shows, and nightly dinner recommendations at local restaurants.

Organizers estimate that around 1,500 guests showed up for the festivities, which include over two dozen different events. That makes it smaller than some other gay ski weeks, such as the one in Aspen, but some attendees appreciate the more intimate atmosphere.

The whole town gets in on the action, with many local stores taking part in the Pride Window Decorating Contest. Congratulations to the Second Chance Humane Society for winning this year’s competition.

Among those to attend was Olympic freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy – swipe through his photos below.

For those interested in booking for next year’s event, put February 27 – March 6, 2027, in your diaries now.
