Culture Catch-Up

OUT ON THE ICE: Veteran reality producer Joel Relampagos is working on a new show inspired by Heated Rivalry, claiming he’s got five closeted hockey players from around the world “ready to come out” on a series that will see them living together & training to compete in the national championships. [Attitude]

TRASH TV: It sounds like Ryan Murphy is really going to do his big one with the upcoming 13th season of American Horror Story, especially now that the icon John Waters has joined the cast. Though the director’s tight-lipped about the role, the “Pope Of Trash” says he’s trying to “steal Vincent Price’s career.” [Queerty]

THE LAST SLASH: Looks like that TV’s still glowing in Jane Schoenbrun’s clever spin on slasher remakes, Teenage Sex And Death At Camp Miasma. A brilliantly eerie new teaser shows off Hannah Einbinder as a director who meets the mysterious star of her favorite horror franchise, played by Gillian Anderson.

CALLING ALL KINGS: After last week’s news that King Of Drag is coming back for Season 2, series co-creator & Revry co-founder Damian Pelliccione opens up about why the reality competition show is so necessary right now & teases “a whole new level of celebrity guest judges” for the episodes ahead. [LA Blade]

STILL GOLDEN: That’s a wrap on the 2026 Milan Winter Olympics, which were so gay—to put it mildly. Here’s a look back at the amazing queer moment that defined the event, from Amber Glenn‘s redemptive free skate, to Gus Kenworthy‘s return to the halfpipe, to the record medal count for Team LGBTQ. [Outsports]

ROYAL REUNION: They’re baaaaack! Red, White & Royal Blue author Casey McQuiston has shared photos from the set of the rom-com’s anticipated sequel, featuring stars Nicholas Galitzine & Taylor Zakhar Perez looking handsome as ever. (Anyone else clock that pitch-perfect “Stateside” remix needle-drop on their Insta?)

GET GLAAD: The annual GLAAD Media Awards have announced a heated lineup for their 2026 ceremony (which will stream March 16 on Hulu), with host Jonathan Bennett, a musical performance from Demi Lovato, special guests Matt Rogers & Bowen Yang, and talent from Heated Rivalry, Pluribus & more! [THR]

FACE-OFF: The wild revenge thriller Becky with star Lulu Wilson is returning for the three-quel The Last Temptation Of Becky and out actors Brandon Flynn & Neil Patrick Harris are joining the cast, with the latter playing the movie’s Big Bad who’s trying to bring about the Fourth Reich. Yes, really! [Deadline]

SONG OF FREEDOM: Grammy-winning queer singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile took a trip to Minneapolis this past weekend for a benefit concert that raised $600,000 for families impacted by ICE’s occupation of the city, where she performed a rousing rendition of protest song “It’s Okay To Change Your Mind.” [LGBTQNation]

RETURN TO THE GARDENS: Few films have had as much of an impact on gay culture as the seminal doc Grey Gardens, which gave us a look into the surprising lives of “Big & Little Edie,” relatives of former First Lady Jackie O. But 50 years since it first hit theaters, is it a masterpiece or “exploitative farce”? [Vanity Fair]

LOUD & PROUD: After years of rumors, controversial Big Brother champion Josh Martinez is finally ready to openly discuss his sexuality, saying he’s “never really felt the need to label” himself, adding, “If I want to go on a show and sleep with whoever I want to sleep with, or date whoever I want to date, I’m okay with it.’ [Queerty]

HOWDY PARTNER: In a brand-new promo for this weekend’s SNL, host-to-be Connor Storrie faces off with cast member James Austin Johnson in an old-fashioned “Accent Duel,” showing off his best Russian, French, and “Shrek”—and looking great while doing it, we might add, rocking a cowboy hat & muscle-hugging polo.

The Final Hump

And who says journalism is dead? For over a year now, drag diva extraordinaire Lushious Massacr (an Emmy winner thanks to her makeup work on the HBO reality series We’re Here) has been keeping the girls on their toes with her hilarious viral series Dragvestigations, where she goes “undercover” at major retail stores—from Marshall’s to Ikea to Spirit Halloween—and “exposes” the truth behind these big-time businesses. Of course, it’s all in good fun (the soundboard for the edits alone allows leaves us in tears), though there’s a genuine spirit of rebellion coursing through all of them as she shows up in these spaces as her full queer safe and makes no apologies. And in her latest exposé, Miss Massacr travels to the notoriously expensive gourmet grocery store Bristol Farms in Beverly Hills, where the price tags are high—but so is the number of prospective sugar daddy trade.
