Nearly half of the 2026 WNBA All-Stars are publicly out LGBTQ athletes

Nearly half of the players in Saturday’s 2026 WNBA All-Star Game are LGBTQ and publicly out, which gives Team LGTQ an outsized representation in the game.

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what percentage of all the players in the WNBA are gay, lesbian, bi or trans — and also out. Outsports’ lists over the last few years indicate somewhere from 25% to 35% are out.

Autostraddle also has done some posting on this, and their numbers are larger than Outsports as they have different methods to decide who’s LGBTQ. Outsports sticks to people who are publicly out — They have explicitly said they are LGBTQ or are in a relationship with another woman, or they are unquestionably in a relationship with another woman on social media.

Of the 22 players competing in the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game, at least 10 are publicly out. That’s over 45% of all the players competing, by Outsports’ standards, meaning the percentage of WNBA All Stars who are out is higher than the percentage of all the players.

And that doesn’t include athletes like Azzi Fudd in the 3-point contest, or legends for the fun new Stars contest they’ll be hosting, which will include Elena Delle Donne and Rebekkah Brunson.

Team LGBTQ rocks.

One of the two teams will be captained by out Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers. Bueckers had the top weighted score of all the voting — combined fans, media and players — for the WNBA All-Star Game.
