Olivia Miles’ record-breaking rookie season earns unanimous WNBA honor

Now Miles has been awarded for her incredible season with the WNBA’s Rookie of the Year award.
She took home the hardware on Monday morning after 74 media members unanimously voted for her to receive the award.

Olivia Miles was the second overall pick in the WNBA Draft, taken by the Minnesota Lynx. She is very public with her relationship with fellow player Maddy Westbeld.
Miles’ averages per game in the regular season were 19.8 points, 6 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals. She shot 49.2 percent from the field and 38.8 percent from three, both solid numbers.

Statistically, her greatness ran far deeper than just her per-game averages.
Miles scored 790 total points during the regular season, the most for a rookie in league history. She broke Caitlin Clark’s previous record of 769 points in the final week of the season.
Some other interesting statistical milestones included breaking the record for most three-pointers made in a single game as a rookie with eight (against the Golden State Valkyries) and having the most points in a single game for a Minnesota rookie with 33 (against Phoenix on July 13).
She was only the 11th rookie to be named a starter in the WNBA All-Star Game.
Olivia Miles leads the Minnesota Lynx into the WNBA Playoffs
Miles led Minnesota to a 33-11 record and the first overall seed in this year’s WNBA Playoffs.
It wasn’t a good start for the team in their first playoff game, though, as they were upset in Game 1 of their series against the New York Liberty.
