Just a week after Tryst Hospitality announced it was taking over the beloved Crown & Anchor hotel and entertainment centre in Provincetown, Massachusetts, the group has announced another exciting venture for 2026.

Tryst is the small chain of boutique, gay-oriented hotels owned by Tristan Schukraft. He’s the owner of The Abbey in West Hollywood, a large chunk of the commercial space on Fire Island, and the PrEP-promoting telehealth company Mistr.

Already one of the most popular Tryst locations is the Tryst Puerto Vallarta in Mexico. It launched in April.

A new Tryst business venture joins it next summer: Tryst Fitness, a luxury gym and wellness brand.

“Big gay energy”

Tryst Fitness will open on the same block as its sister hotel. According to a press release, it will combine “the sophistication of a luxury gym with the big gay energy and playful spirit of The Tryst in the heart of Zona Romántica.”

“Tryst Fitness will be the most elevated gym experience in Puerto Vallarta,” said Tristan Schukraft. “It is modern, calm, social, and beautiful. It is a gym created for our community and built to the level of luxury we want when we travel.”

The venue will span nearly 11,000 square feet. The gym will offer floor-to-ceiling windows, alongside an outdoor workout deck and rooftop lap pool.

Members will also have access to an expansive 3,000 square foot wet area that includes a sauna, steam room, cold plunge, Turkish baths, and a full spa.

Tryst Hospitality says the whole street will benefit from the arrival of the gym as it’s “upgrading infrastructure along Púlpito Street by burying utilities for the entire block and leveling the sidewalk to create a more beautiful, walkable, and pedestrian-friendly experience for the Amapas neighborhood.”

The gym will also feature a neighboring, high-end grocery store serving locals, hotel guests, and gym members.

You’ll find the new gym at Púlpito 116, Zona Romántica, Amapas, Puerto Vallarta. Guests can sign up to receive information on Founder’s Rates at trystfitness.com.

This may be the brand’s flagship gym, but it’s planning to create others in Fire Island and Rio de Janeiro as it opens hotels in those locations.

Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta needs little introduction to regular readers of GayCities. Nestled on Mexico’s Pacific coast, it combines stunning natural beauty with vibrant culture. There’s the cobblestoned Old Town and the romantic Malecón seaside promenade lined with sculptures and restaurants.

For the more adventurous, there’s zip-lining through the jungle canopy, whale watching, and snorkeling in Banderas Bay.

The destination is also renowned as one of Latin America’s most queer-friendly cities. It offers gay-friendly accommodation to suit all budgets, along with plenty of bars and clubs, such as CC Slaughters and Paco’s Ranch. For daytime fun, check out resorts such as Mantamar and Blue Chairs.
