Somebody tell these rappers how adjectives work

This content creator has choice words for the “God made Adam & Eve” crowd

We’re seeing a resurgence of homophobic rap, and it’s really not cute. Between the gay demon song from last week and Snoop Dogg’s anti-gay amnesia this week, the gays are struggling to understand why people are suddenly acting like it’s 2003 all over again.

We know the answer, of course—Tr*mpism! In a cultural climate where things seem to be reverting back to the 1950s with increasing speed, it makes sense that certain (talentless, D-list, would-be) rappers are deciding to pop up on our feed with a weak attempt at shaming queer people back into the closet. But for every dumb video about how “God made Adam & Eve, not Adam & Steve,” there’s someone else ready to put said loser rappers back in their place.

One of the best creators doing it right now is Tashika Ann, a TikToker who has been reading these idiots for filth with aplomb. Every time she shows up on our FYP, Mariah Carey’s “Hero” plays softly in the background.

Consider the dressing down she gave this d*mba** after he posted a rap that should have stayed in drafts.

How about we take this to the next level?

C’mon guys let’s cut out the games there is no way two women or men or otherwise outside of a cus hetero context is so world breaking that you focus on it so much. #wlw #mlm #lgbtq #politics #happypride #CapCut #fyp ♬ original sound – tashikann

“Got little children asking if they he or a she, or a they/them, this mayhem is Satan’s deceit,” goes one of his extremely weak bars. Wow, he really got us there! I hate to be called Satan’s deceit!

Like a true hero, Tashika shows up with hard facts to rip this idea to shreds.

“All this talk about…queer people and gay men, you think about it so much I have to ask you at this point—have you ever considered s*cking a c*ck?”

Great question! Though we’re not fans of the gay bully stereotype, it does have to be said that these people are obsessed with us. They are not beating the “sore winner” allegations.

“Y’all are so f*cking dramatic,” Tashika says. “You’re telling me ‘cuz I kiss a girl I am suddenly an agent of Satan?”

Apparently that’s where some people are at right now. Not only is it fine and dandy to be homophobic on main, it’s also totally fine to be stupid on main.

“First of all,” she continues, “I have never seen a child ask me if they were a boy or a girl before—actually, yes I have. The only children to have asked me have always been cisgender children. There’s something about queer kids that just lets them know who the f*ck they are.”

That’s right! And some of those queer kids have a more complex understanding of gender and sexuality than many of the weird adults walking around trying to act like we’re the strange ones.

Often enough, people who make homophobia their whole personality get hoist by their own petard. Witness the dressing down Tashika gave to this charming gentleman:

@tashikann

Bro what are you talking about. There are different types of women haven’t the third grade reading be oks taught you that? #lgbtq #politics #wlw #happypride #CapCut #fyp ♬ original sound – tashikann

“If trans are real women why you putting trans in it,” he says. Wow, flawless logic—if you’ve never encountered an adjective before.

As Tashika points out, putting a descriptor before the word “woman” doesn’t immediately cancel out the woman part–which, again, is something that most five year olds know.

The point here—as with all these creators trying to make homophobia their entire online personality—is that rapping about how gay people are awful and trans people are sick while wearing a shirt that says “thank a straight person for your existence” is only going to come back to haunt you in the end. Gay people don’t care, because we’re too busy enjoying our lives and understanding how adjectives work. So sure, do your worst, anti-LGBTQ+ rappers! Be dramatic, be dumb, and embarrass the hell out of yourselves—meanwhile, we’ll be over here doing the gay stuff you’re too afraid to try, and loving every minute of it.
