Northalsted’s Market Days returns to Chicago this weekend (Aug. 7-9, 2026).

One of the city’s most beloved summer festivals, it draws hundreds of thousands of visitors to the city’s vibrant Northalsted neighbourhood.

Stretching a half-mile along North Halsted Street, the two-day street fair transforms the US’s first officially recognised ‘gayborhood’ into a spectacular celebration of queer culture, community, and joyous summertime fun.

Live music across multiple stages, an eclectic mix of food vendors, arts and crafts stalls, and exuberant street performances create an irresistible carnival atmosphere. The festival welcomes everyone — gay, straight, and everything in between — making it one of the Midwest’s most joyfully inclusive outdoor events.

This year’s event will feature four stages. Performers include Keri Hilson, Frankie Grande, Daya, Dawn Richard, comedian Jessica Kirson, and Myki Meeks, current winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

General entry each day of the event is available for a $20 suggested donation that helps pay performers, event workers, and funds community programs. VIP packages are also still available.

Afterhours action

Of course, besides the street festivities, many attendees will be looking to sample plenty of Chicago’s nightlife. Market Days has a reputation as an event where you can … well, make new friends. In fact, as a recent Reddit post enquired, some guys want to know about the cruisiest venues and parties to check out. Below are just a few of your options.

Sidetrack

Chicago’s best-known gay bar, Sidetrack kicks off Market Days weekend with its monthly Glow Party this Thursday night. Expect go-go’s with glow sticks at an event sponsored by clothing store Men’s Room.

CircuitMOM

CircuitMOM has two big Market Days events. The first, Queendom, takes place at the Aragon Ballroom on Saturday (Aug.8) . The second, Take Flight, takes over the same venue on Sunday evening.

Chicago Eagle

The new Chicago Eagle opened in the spring of this year, taking over the venue formerly known as The Baton Show Lounge. It features several bars, a state-of-the-art sound system, and multiple spaces to explore (including one part that’s particularly cruisey). Despite being an ‘Eagle’ bar, it attracts more of a mixed crowd and hosts events for all sections of the community.

Furball at Metro

Furball, from NYC promoter Joe Fiore, comes to Chicago for a hook-up this Friday at Metro. Expect hairy men, muscle bears, chubs and chasers, with sounds from Jesse Mercado and Tony Moran.

Jackhammer

The ethos at Jackhammer is that “Life is too short for vanilla”. It’s a 21+ queer bar and late-night destination in Rogers Park “built for strong drinks, late nights, leather, gear, self-expression, and the kind of no-attitude energy Chicago nightlife deserves.” Unsurprisingly, it has parties planned all across Market Days weekend.

It has a full line-up of events this weekend, including a ‘Sleaze Haus Backroom Party’ on Friday, a BearUnion afternoon event on Saturday followed by L.O.A.D from 9pm, and the regular ‘Bunday’ from 2pm on Sunday.

Steamworks Chicago

Given that Market Days attracts around 100,000 visitors, with many from out of town, expect Steamworks, Chicago’s best-known bathhouse, to be busy. It has five days of events, most of which feature guest adult creators as hosts. Swipe through the slides below for more info.
