Let there be light!

Last week, Luke Evans brought his rainbow touch to one of New York City‘s most iconic skyscrapers, the Empire State Building.

The gay actor, who’s currently dazzling audiences as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in Rocky Horror Show on Broadway, was given the honor of flipping the switch and lighting up its dazzling spires in a fabulous sea of Pride flag colors. It’s a Pride Month tradition the building has celebrated annually since 1990.

Of course, this put Evans in an exclusive club of LGBTQ+ icons like Judy Garland’s daughter Lorna Luft, and Andy Cohen, who appeared last year.

Plus, he brought along a super hot date: his miniature Dachshund, Lala. Awww!

The Tony Award-nominated performer was also accompanied by Jaymes Black, CEO of The Trevor Project, and Stacy Lentz, CEO & co-founder of The Stonewall Gives Back Initiative.

Taking in the view from the 102nd floor, it was clear the momentousness (and the global symbol that its 1,454 foot-tall spire represents) was not lost on Evans.

“It’s about humanity coming together and allowing us all to live a happy, free, joyful life,” he said. “The Empire State Building — this iconic New York landmark — celebrating Pride sends such a positive, unifying message, not just to New York, but to the world.”

Bravo indeed!
