Gay Christian tells the Giants he’s done until the team fixes its Pride debacle
This gay Christian is a longtime San Francisco Giants fan. He's put his fandom on hold until the Giants effectively address the Pride fiasco.

This is part of Outsports’ series of “Dear Giants” letters written by San Francisco Giants fans and sent to the team after their mishandling of this season’s Pride Night, with Bible verses written on Pride caps by three players intending to send an anti-gay message during Pride Night.
It was bad enough that San Francisco Giants pitchers Landen Roupp, Ryan Walker and JT Brubaker offended J.P. — as a gay man and longtime Giants fan — with their demeaning Pride Night cap Bible verse display.
They also offended him as a Christian.
Yet worse than the players’ behavior has been the lack of leadership shown by team management with statements in response, as well as silence, that made matters worse.

“I will not be attending any more games at Oracle the way things currently stand,” J.P. told Outsports. He’s attended about 10 games a season for the last 10 years. “I’m not gonna buy another ticket.”
He addressed his letter to Giants Chief Diversity Officer Roscoe Mapps.
Dear Giants,
As the Chief Diversity Officer of the San Francisco Giants, I hope you’ll take seriously the concerns and the anger of countless Giants fans re: Pride Night on 6/12/26.
I was at the game, (I’ve been a frequent attendee at the ballpark for 15 years), so from where I was sitting I couldn’t see what Landen Roupp and others had written on their caps. But I heard about it today.
As a gay man who also happens to be a devout Christian, I found the lack of leadership on the part of Giants’ management absolutely appalling.
While I believe in each person’s right to freedom of religion, I do not think it is appropriate for team members to take their religious beliefs onto the field, during a game, on the night when we should be celebrating diversity and community and not bigotry and division.
Please let me know what official position the Giants organization is taking regarding the outrageous behavior of these players last night.
The continuation of my fandom depends upon your answer.
J.P.

Read the angry letters two straight Giants fans sent the team after Pride Night
These two straight men are SF Giants fans. They were so incensed by the team’s mishandling of Pride Night, they send these letters.
To remedy the situation, J.P. echoed what many other people have said, that the team taking responsibility and committing to this not happening again are paramount.
“Instead of saying that they ‘understand that a segment of the fan base is upset’ or that they ‘want the issue to be behind us,'” J.P. told Outsports, “they should acknowledge that the 3 players who wrote on their caps were in violation of their contracts… and that such behavior will not be tolerated in the future, regardless of the event of ‘theme’ of the game.”
