It's Pride month, and nobody celebrates better than New Yorkers! It’s always important to teach your kids about the struggles the LGBTQ+ community has faced, but this month, especially, they can learn through fun events and activities that are happening around the city.

Kids can celebrate Pride by designing their own placemats to welcome loved ones to their table during this drop-in workshop. Kids will draw inspiration from works in Making Home—Smithsonian Design Triennial, including the PIN-UP film Dream Homes, which tells the story of three LGBTQIA+ communities exploring daily life and ensuring everyone feels at home, and The Offering, by Nicole Crowder and Hadiya Williams, which explores how textiles and table settings can help express who we are and provide a sense of belonging.

Families of all ages and identities are invited to celebrate Pride through hands-on art and storytelling activities. Guests will explore celebrations of identity aboard Intrepid and learn about the history of LGBTQ+ communities in the Navy. Activities are designed for learners of all ages and abilities. All registrants will receive a social narrative in advance to help prepare for the event. Teens are encouraged to visit the Teen Corner to create art, hang out and make friends. Current and former service members and their families who pre-register are invited to enjoy a special Military Family Lounge, featuring light beverages and snacks. Join King Manor Museum this Pride Month for a Revolutionary Activity! Printing posters was essential for mobilizing patriots during the Revolution. Now, almost 250 years later, you can block print to create posters that can be used at Pride Marches and beyond!
