Soccer legend and queer icon Megan Rapinoe shares her Seattle hotspots
Soccer legend Rapinoe shared her Seattle recommendations to tie in with an influx of visitors to the city for the World Cup.

Soccer legend and queer icon Megan Rapinoe has revealed her personal recommendations for her home city of Seattle in Washington. It ties in with an influx of visitors to the city for FIFA’s World Cup. Seattle Stadium is hosting six of the tournament’s matches.
Rapinoe grew up in Reading, California. However, she relocated to Seattle for her career. She spent her entire NWSL career with the Seattle Reign (formerly known as OL Reign) from the league’s inaugural season in 2013 until she retired in 2023.

In a new video made for Airbnb, Rapinoe has dished on some of her hotspots.

Rapinoe revealed that she lives close to Caffe Vita, a Seattle institution since 1995. You’ll often spot her at the independent coffee store at weekends.
Next up is Betty Restaurant and Bar, a beloved neighborhood restaurant on Queen Anne Avenue serving elevated American comfort food.

For shopping, Rapinoe likes to stop by Glasswing, an independent boutique on Melrose Ave carrying women’s and men’s clothing, shoes, jewelry, home goods, and plants from independent designers around the world.
Seattle’s only independent farmers’ market, Queen Anne Farmers Market, runs every Thursday from 3-7.30pm at the top of Queen Anne Hill. Check it out for its food vendors, live music and chef demonstrations.
Seattle, of course, is surrounded by plenty of water, so it is well-served with seafood restaurants. Rapinoe recommends Walrus and the Carpenter, a walk-in oyster bar at 4743 Ballard Ave NW.
Finally, to enjoy the best view of the city, head to Kerry Park on Queen Anne. It offers a sweeping panorama of the iconic Downtown skyline.

Check out all her recommendations below.
We’d also add one of our own. If you’re a lover of sports or just want somewhere to watch the World Cup matches, head for Seattle’s premier gay sports bar, the Madison Pub on Capitol Hill (1315 East Madison Street, Seattle, WA 98122).
