Who stole Madonna’s vintage Coachella outfit? An investigation
Madonna is offering a reward, but a list of culprits has turned up.

Madonna’s triumphant return to the Coachella stage has turned into a crime scene.
On Friday night, the Queen of Pop pulled out all the stops surprising fans during Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining gig in what has become the standout moment of the second week of the desert music extravaganza.
Madonna and Sabrina performed together singing “Vogue”, “Like a Prayer” and the new song “Bring Your Love,” which is off the Queen’s upcoming album Confessions On a Dance Floor, Part II.
But just days later, Madonna revealed the vintage purple lingerie outfit she wore on stage (and previously wore during her trailblazing visit to the festival in 2006) has gone missing and the culprit is still on the loose.

The stolen goods
On Monday, Madonna took to social media asking fans for their help locating the garments and offered up a reward.
“Still flying high since Friday night at Coachella! Thank you to Sabrina and everyone who made it possible. Bringing Confessions II back to where it began was such a thrill,” the 67-year-old diva wrote in an Instagram Story.
“This full circle moment hit different until I discovered that the vintage pieces that I wore went missing – my costume that was pulled from my personal archives – jacket, corset, dress and all other garments. These aren’t just clothes, they are part of my history.”
Among the missing items are a 2006 Gucci leather bomber jacket, a lavender satin bodysuit by Rosamosario, the lavender corset Madonna first wore in her “Sorry” music video, and her iconic YSL leather boots.

But that’s not all that was taken.
“Other archival items from the same era went missing as well,” she added. “I’m hoping and praying that some kind soul will find these items and reach out to my team.”
She gave an email address, Infomaverick2026@gmail.com, for anyone with leads to contact and disclosed she’s “offering a reward for their safe return.”
As expected, Madonna’s legion of fans responded with shock and awe.
Possible culprits?
Others put on their sleuthing caps to get to the bottom of the fashion felony.
And within minutes a hilarious list of possible culprits began to permeate the internet.
No pop diva was beyond suspicion!

The police report
Jokes aside, the hard facts of the case have slowly come to light.
Madonna’s rep first filed a missing property report with the Indio, CA Police Department on Saturday at 7:32 PM, per TMZ.
The report went on to say the missing items were “last seen on a golf cart at the Empire Polo Grounds on Saturday, April 18, 2026, shortly after 1:30 a.m.”
This would mean that while Madonna was living her best life dancing during EDM artist Anyma’s closing set, her treasured items were about to be swiped.
Can’t a queen party in peace????
So who stole Madonna’s clothes?
But the mystery took a new turn.
The Indio police don’t really believe Madonna’s items were actually stolen. Say what?
Instead, they said a preliminary investigation found that two bags of Madonna’s couture costumes “may have fallen off a golf cart operated by staff who were on their way to load the bags onto a bus.” The old ‘it fell of a truck’ excuse?!
It gets worse.
They found “no evidence to suggest the bags were intentionally stolen” and asked whoever has them to return the items to the Indio police department immediately. Talk about passing the buck!
While it doesn’t sound like the police are going to be very helpful, we’re hoping that whoever has Madonna’s clothes in their possession does the right thing. Besides, at this point trying to sell the items may not be the easiest or wisest thing to do, as preeminent Madonna historian and superfan Matthew Rettenmund (@encylcopediamadonnica) indicated.

Although the culprit may feel so free, Madonna stans won’t stop until the perpetrator or the goods are found.
In reality, the hard truth is we may never know who hijacked Madonna’s iconic artifacts, but at least we can continue to obsess over her gag-worthy performance in the vintage pieces at Coachella.
For those 10 minutes, all was safe and perfect in the world. Thanks be to Madonna
