Why Ducks Teammates Are Calling Beckett Sennecke ‘Macarooner’

Anaheim Ducks winger Beckett Sennecke posted a nude photo of himself to his Instagram story this week, with macarons covering what needed covering, Dose and HockeyFeed reported. Both said it was deleted within minutes.

People had already taken screenshots, though, according to both outlets. HockeyFeed, which called it an accidental post, said the image spread across social media, with X users joking about it. We’re not sharing the screenshots here or linking to anybody who did. As of Saturday afternoon, neither Sennecke, who is 20, nor the Ducks had made a public statement about the post. His teammates did address it, sort of. HockeyFeed reported that the Ducks now call Sennecke “Macarooner,” and that rookie Roger McQueen called him out during a postgame celebration in the locker room. Dose, citing a post on X, reported that McQueen used the name in front of the rest of the team before handing the player-of-the-game helmet to defenseman Pavel Mintyukov. Beckett Sennecke’s Nine Points in Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary

The hockey part of his week went a lot better. The Ducks swept a three-game road trip, and Sennecke had at least two points in every game.

On Tuesday in Vancouver, he had a career-high four assists in a 5-4 win, all of them primary, NHL.com reported. Three of them set up Cutter Gauthier’s hat trick.

“When you have someone with probably one of the best shots that I’ve skated with, the best shot I’ve ever seen in my life, you try and get him the puck when he has time and space in the slot,” Sennecke said.

Two nights later in Edmonton, he scored twice and added an assist in another 5-4 win. His power-play goal early in the third period made it 5-2. Edmonton then scored twice in the last 3:36 to make it close. “We keep finding ways to leave teams in it a little bit in the past couple of games,” Sennecke said. “But a win’s a win.”

On Friday in Calgary, he had two assists, including the pass from behind the net on Leo Carlsson’s tying power-play goal early in the third, as the Ducks came back to beat the Flames 5-3. It was their fourth straight win. The team’s Instagram account called it an “UNDEFEATED road trip.”

Sennecke, the No. 3 pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, now has 10 goals and 11 assists in 17 games, per NHL.com. He had 60 points as a rookie last season.

“As a group, every time we go out there, we think we’re going to score,” he said after the Vancouver game. “We’re rolling pretty hot right now.”
