We know it feels like New Year’s Eve just happened, but we’re less than a month away from Valentine’s Day.

So, gays, what’s the plan?

Of course, the safe answer would be a candlelit dinner at the same pricey joint you picked last year, but why stay at home when you can escape for a romantic rendezvous?

With winter in full swing, Cupid’s holiday provides a perfect excuse to book a trip and treat you and your loved one (or ones!) to a weekend filled with culture, art, exploration, and, preferably, some better weather.

Here are 4 of our top picks for a romantic V-Day getaway with your bae.

1. Paris, France

OK, Paris on Valentine’s Day might be a little cliché, but is there anything more romantic than toasting champagne with a partner, looking down at the City of Lights from the Eiffel Tower?

From queer bar hopping to museum scouting, people-watching at cafes, and luxe shopping options, there’s plenty to see and do — although make sure to pack a raincoat, as February tends to be one of its colder months.

As far as accommodations go, you can soak up some gayborhood fun in Le Marais at the charming Caron de Beaumarchais Hotel, with its high ceilings and ornately decorated rooms, or splurge on the Marriott’s Renaissance Paris Vendome Hotel, just steps away from the Louvre and the Seine.

2. Key West, Florida

If you’re looking for a warm-weather and queer-centered escape on the East Coast, look no further than Key West, Florida. Home to the famous Bourbon Street Pub — and a location that inspired the likes of Truman Capote, Tennessee Williams, and Ernest Hemingway — the city is filled with culture, history, and beautiful beaches.

With temperatures in the high 70s and free-flowing frozen drinks, it’s the perfect spot to cosplay paradise with your partner.

Of course, the sunny destination offers plenty of luxurious stays, like Casa Marina Resort & Beach Club (which is part of the Waldorf-Astoria family), the Hyatt Key West Resort and Spa, or the clothing-optional, all-male Island House if you’re looking for a little more “risqué” than “relax.”

If you’re looking for a Roman holiday, minus the crowds and The Colosseum, your best bet is Milan. The Italian city is renowned as the country’s hub of the future, boasting a mix of business, fashion, art, nightlife, and shopping.

Spend your V-Day delighting in aperitivos at NoLoSo, exploring the rebel spirit of the city’s queer community at Q Club, or opt for some cheeky fun at the aptly named Hot Dog Club.

Between the Marriott’s STRAF, Milan, and the Armani Hotel, the city is filled with splurge-worthy hotel options. That said, it’s hard to beat Bulgari Hotel Milano, located in downtown Milan, where guests can splurge in their luxurious lounge and 43,000-square-foot garden, and treat themselves to other high-end services.

4. Palm Springs, California

Answer the West Coast’s call and book a Valentine’s weekend in Palm Springs. Winter, who? The California oasis is known for its comfortable weather, with highs in the low 70s and brisk nights that may dip down to the 40s.

Whether you’re looking to get a good tan and soak up some rays or pack your itinerary, the LGBTQ+ haven features plenty of itinerary options, like the Palm Springs Air Museum, Smith Vargas Fine Art gallery, and shows at McCallum Theatre.

Those familiar with the gay paradise know there’s no shortage of upscale accommodations, like the all-male Twin Palms Resort and its pristine pool or the perfectly Instagrammable Thompson Palm Springs by Hyatt.
