Benito Bowl, drag queens & Peloton memes: 10 things we’re obsessed with this week
Feeling clean, watching queens, and viral memes.

This week, Punxsutawney Phil had one job: Crawl out of his burrow and free us from the wrath of winter.
Unfortunately, the rodent had other plans on Groundhog Day. He took a long, hard gander at his shadow and predicted six more weeks of cold temps. Which is exactly why we need a gay groundhog in office.
How about we take this to the next level?

Thankfully, we had an exciting week in LGBTQ+ news, filled with hot goss, steamy stories, and far less mammal disappointment.
First, Gaga won big at this year’s Grammy Awards, we peeped JFK Jr.’s chest hair in Ryan Murphy’s new show, and Trixie Mattel was announced as this year’s Queerties Awards host.
Plus, we got a look at Colman Domingo in Michael, celebrated Erik Bottcher’s win, and balked at both the gay couple dropping $700 a week on food delivery and Grindr’s pricey new update.
Otherwise, we’ve been focused on feeling clean, watching queens, and viral memes.
Without further ado, we now present the 10 things we’re obsessed with this week….
1. Iced Coffee Hugger

It’s a tough time for gay men’s hands right now. It’s been an especially relentless winter with freezing temps and bone-chilling winds, yet we’re still expected to make our daily pilgrimage outdoors to get an iced coffee. But in between Google searches for “Can my knuckles get frostbitten?” and “Is it even worth it,” I stumbled upon a solution: The Iced Coffee Hugger, available for $15 on Uncommon Goods.
Basically, this lightweight, flexible, and neoprene beverage sleeve wraps around your drink to not only keep it colder for longer, but also protect your hand/table/desk from yucky condensation. Bonus: It securely fits a wide range of cup sizes and comes in three cute color options. A johnny for your iced coffee? Now I’ve seen it all!
2. The Queer Thing About Sin by Harry Tanner
In ancient Greece, queer love was celebrated, poets wrote about WLW relationships, and male couples could live out their years in peace… so, what the heck happened? That’s the subject of Harry Tanner’s new book, The Queer Thing About Sin, available in hardcover for $28 on Amazon.
In its pages, Tanner shares years of research on the origins of homophobia in Western society across centuries, drawing a line from how religion, ideologies, and crisis led us to where we are today, and how we can change it. History has never been so gripping or essential.
3. A deeply unserious drag performance…
I kept waiting for the performance to start in this hilarious video from Edmonton drag queen Emmonia… until I realized that was the point. LOL. Honestly, I think this is the only way “Same Love” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis should be performed at a gay bar.
4. And Stellan Skarsgård doing drag
With an Oscar nom for Best Supporting Actor under his belt, Sentimental Value star Stellan Skarsgård is in full awards-season mode, and it’s led to some surprising revelations. Not only did the 74-year-old actor don drag for a recent W Magazine photoshoot, but he also revealed to Kyle Buchanan that it wasn’t his first time.
“[At age 15], I just borrowed a girlfriend’s clothes, and I put socks in the bra and put on makeup and went out,” he said. “I was flabbergasted over how young men were treating me — the notice you got and the eyes and everything … So, I know that it can be seductive and also objectifying to be a woman.”
Incredible story. Although perhaps we shouldn’t be too surprised. This man starred in two Mamma Mia! movies, after all.
5. The Peloton meme taking over social media
My entire Twitter X feed is just different variations of this video of a Peloton instructor going off on a rider with an inappropriate username. “Get them banned,” she bellows. “We don’t do that here. Oh, now, I’m pissed.” Of course, what was originally a tense and disrespectful moment has now quickly transformed into a meme.
Gays are now hilariously using the clip to react to Addison Rae’s Grammy performance slander, impersonate drag queens’ response to requests for Taylor Swift, and voice their dismay when a headless torso hits them up on Grindr. And maybe it’s the instructor’s passion or rhythmic angry clapping, but I can’t help but watch the entire video every time.
6. Native Products
Now, whether I actually needed a change in my self-care rituals or just watched the shower scenes in Heated Rivalry too many times is up for debate. But I recently snagged an assortment of Native’s bath, body, and deodorant products, and I couldn’t be happier.
Their mission is to provide fresh fragrances without the excess, meaning you won’t find aluminum, dyes, sulfates, silicones, phthalates, or petrolatum anywhere on their ingredient list. More than that, their scents just smell good. My personal faves are the Eucalyptus & Mint Moisturizing Lotion ($14), Cucumber & Mint Volumizing Conditioner ($11), and Sea Salt & Cedar Deodorant Stick ($14). But if you’re feeling especially fruity, their limited-edition Sugar Cookie is surprisingly appetizing.
7. Benito Bowl T-Shirt

As gays, we come to Super Bowl parties for the buffalo chicken dip and booze, but we stay for the halftime show. Thankfully, SB LIX looks to be another banger, with newly minted Grammy Album of the Year winner and outspoken LGBTQ+ ally, Bad Bunny, taking the stage for what’s sure to be an energetic, visual, and political performance.
That’s why I say skip the jersey and snag yourself a Benito Bowl tee instead, like this one, on sale for $24.99 on Etsy.
8. A Brat card

You can bank with the brats, just in time for Charli XCX’s new movie, The Moment. According to its description, this bold, chartreuse, customized, and embossed card — $10 on the A24 Online Shop — is “different” and “your credit card should be too.” Of course, Howard Stirling isn’t a real bank, this isn’t a real credit card, and it holds no monetary value. But you’ll look pretty dang cool putting it down on the tab for bottomless brunch… at least until the waiter tries to swipe it.
9. Antoni Porowski in his briefs
To quote Antoni Porowski in his IG caption for his photoshoot with SAXX Underwear: “Lemme be brief. And boxer brief.” Whew. All I can say is my eyes are feeling very queer right now.
10. Best in Show
Catherine O’Hara was one of those actresses with the rare ability to devour a role absolutely, stealing every second of screen time she had in projects like Home Alone, Beetlejuice, The Studio, and, of course, Schitt’s Creek.
Needless to say, the 71-year-old actress’s shocking passing last week was deeply felt by everyone who had witnessed her comedic talents in action. In O’Hara’s memory, I revisited Best in Show — currently streaming on Netflix — and was absolutely charmed by Christopher Guest’s 2000 witty and ridiculous dog show mockumentary all over again. The ensemble cast is incredible, the gags are nonstop, and the pups deserve Academy Awards. “God loves a terrier,” forever.
