The energy was infectious, spreading like wildfire through the streets of D.C. I caught glimpses of awe-inspiring drag queens, their costumes shimmering and their personalities larger than life. They sashayed and twirled, exuding confidence and self-expression with every step. Marching bands filled the air with infectious beats, and community groups proudly showcased their identities on creatively crafted floats. It was a spectacle that left onlookers breathless, and we were lucky enough to have a unique view atop the World Pride Washington, D.C. 2025 double decker bus. Our goal was making sure all the onlookers knew that in 2 years, there would be an even bigger celebration. At one point the crowd was chanting “kiss, kiss, kiss…” and Teraj and I were more than happy to oblige.Surprisingly, the parade was just the beginning. The Capital Pride Festival, a centerpiece of the event, transformed the city into a dazzling playground of music, art, and celebration.
