Out LGBTQ UFC Hall of Famer Amanda Nunes, the greatest female fighter to ever grace the octagon for the UFC, isn’t taking Sean Strickland’s abhorrent deluge of hate speech at Wednesday’s UFC media day silently.

The only UFC fighter to defend titles in two different weight classes while holding both titles simultaneously responded to Strickland’s misogynistic comments about women’s MMA and women’s role in society via Instagram on Thursday.

“We do everything he said, and to top it off, lol, we’re fighters too. #girlpower,” the former UFC Bantamweight and Featherweight champion wrote. “Don’t cry, dude.”

While the post doesn’t address the homophobic and transphobic comments Strickland also made during his media availability ahead of his fight against Anthony Hernandez on Saturday, most notably calling Super Bowl LX halftime performer Bad Bunny a “f***ing f**got,” Nunes’s words carry weight.

Already the most successful and dominant fighter in women’s MMA history, Nunes is currently awaiting her return to the octagon in a UFC Bantamweight title clash against current champion Kayla Harrison in one of the biggest fights the UFC can currently schedule and potentially one of the biggest fights in the history of women’s MMA.

The fight was pulled from its initially scheduled date in January after Harrison was forced to undergo neck surgery.

Strickland directly referenced Nunes in his tirade, saying that “the weakest, softest motherf***er here would beat up Amanda Nunes as evidence of his belief that “no one gives a f**k about women’s sports.”

Considering the growth in popularity that a number of women’s sports events and organizations have enjoyed in recent years, including the WNBA, PWHL, Unrivaled and multiple college sports, Strickland’s opinion is only informed by his own sexism.

While Nunes is vocally pushing back on Strickland’s pathetic use of hate speech, the UFC and Paramount Skydance, the broadcasting partner paying the UFC $7.7 billion for the rights to broadcast its fights for the next seven years, have been notably and expectedly silent.

Outsports reached out to Paramount Skydance for comment on Strickland’s virulent statements, if any company officials had contacted the UFC or Strickland directly regarding his comments and if those comments deserve repercussions in the company’s eyes.

Paramount Skydance did not respond to that request as of press time.
