Gus Kenworthy got British Vogue’s approval on grey sweatpants season.
The 34-year-old Olympian is spotlighted in the new issue wearing what is often considered the sluttiest outfit a man can nonchalantly wear.
Kenworthy kept it modest both in how much he left to the imagination and in being humbled by the fashion mag choosing to highlight his sporty style & Olympic comeback.
“The December issue of @BritishVogue hits newsstands tomorrow and honestly, I’m pretty gagged to be in her pages. An honour!” Kenworthy captioned a slideshow of images by photographer Clay Stephen Gardner from the editorial spread.

Olympic comeback
Although Kenworthy retired from skiing in 2022, earlier this year he announced his comeback in an attempt to make it to his fourth Olympic Games at Milano Cortina in 2026.
As part of Team USA, Kenworthy won silver in men’s slopestyle at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi. After coming out publicly, he returned to the 2018 Games finishing 12th in men’s slopestyle while battling injuries.
In 2019, he switched to Team Great Britain, the country of his birth, and took eighth place in the freeski halfpipe in Beijing in 2022.
Now he’s back to training for Great Britain.
“I was watching a lot of the events last year and I was really impressed by the skiing,”Kenworthy told British Vogue. “I was like, ‘F*ck, I feel like I could still do this.’”

Loud & proud
Elsewhere in the interview, Kenworthy discussed the importance of being loud and proud especially in sports.
“For men, sport has such a machismo attitude around it. A lot of gay men stop pursuing sport because of it,” he said. “I’ve met so many people who told me that they were collegiate level, or on the road to the Olympics, NBA or NFL, and they stopped completely. It didn’t feel safe; they didn’t feel welcome. That’s why it’s important to speak up on it.”
However, the trauma from the closet lingers and Kenworthy admits even after a decade since coming out himself, he stills catches himself trying to fit in.
“I’ve definitely been at events and said, ‘Bye, bro,’ to someone”, he shared, “and then they’ll walk away and my boyfriend will be like, ‘Bro? You said bro to someone?’”
Kenworthy’s boyfriend of over a year is Andrew Rigby, a NYC-based finance executive. The happy couple routinely share pics of their romance and travels to places like Provincetown and Burning Man.
For now, Kenworthy will continue training in Switzerland in hopes of scoring a spot on Team GB.
The 2026 Winter Olympics take place February 6-22 in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
