Here are the 10 Happiest Countries for 2023

While current events and anti-LGBTQ+ laws may often lead to a pessimistic worldview for the out traveler, the World Happiness Report shows most countries are as happy as they were during a pre-pandemic world. The World Happiness Report used six key factors to measure happiness levels across the globe: social support, income, health, freedom, generosity, and absence of corruption. That information was then compiled into a report edited by leading experts from around the world.“The ultimate goal of politics and ethics should be human well-being,” one of the report’s authors, Jeffrey Sachs, said in a statement. “The happiness movement shows that well-being is not a ‘soft’ and ‘vague’ idea but rather focuses on areas of life of critical importance: material conditions, mental and physical wealth, personal virtues, and good citizenship. We need to turn this wisdom into practical results to achieve more peace, prosperity, trust, civility – and yes, happiness – in our societies.”“The overall goal is a happier society,” echoed report author Richard Layrd. “But we only get there if people make each other happy (and not just themselves). It’s an inspiring goal for us as individuals. And it includes the happiness of future generations – and our own mental health.”The World Happiness Report is a publication of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, powered by the Gallup World Poll data. The report is supported by the Fondazione Ernesto Illy; illycaffè; Davines Group; Unilever’s largest ice cream brand, Wall’s; The Blue Chip Foundation; The William, Jeff, and Jennifer Gross Family Foundation; The Happier Way Foundation, and The Regeneration Society Foundation. You can learn more about the World Happiness at worldhappiness.report, but we’ve curated the top 10 happiest countries here.
