“History is made”: How fans reacted to Kylie Minogue joining Madonna on tour

At long last! Madonna and Kylie Minogue have finally shared the stage in Los Angeles at the former’s ongoing Celebration Tour.

The headliner invited the Aussie icon onto stage, who was dressed in a rhinestone bedazzled black tank top that read “Madonna”, a nod to the shirt Madonna wore at the 2000 MTV Europe Music Awards with Kylie’s name scrawled across the front.

Speaking to the crowd, the ‘All the Lovers’ star correctly pointed out that “this moment is a long time coming.”

The pair started by singing an acapella version of Minogue’s ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’, before performing a stripped-back rendition of Gloria Gaynor’s disco classic ‘I Will Survive’.

The two queens of pop have ruled the music charts together since the 1980s, however they have never collaborated on a track together.

In a recent interview with E! News, Kylie opened up about potentially teaming up with Madonna while attending the 2024 MusicCares Awards.

“How is Earth still spinning when this hasn’t happened?” she joked, before admitting that she had spoken to Madge about the idea in the past. “We would both love it. I know I would, and she’s mentioned it before. So, hey! Maybe.”

This is not the first time that Kylie has spoken out about a potential collab opportunity. Back in June 2023, the ‘Padam Padam’ BRIT-winning star told 103.5 KTU that she would be open to working with the ‘Like A Virgin’ singer.

“I would. Of course, I would! She’s going on tour,” she shared.

“I don’t have Madonna’s number but if I was in town and she was in town it would be amazing. The building would probably fall down. We’d need to send out warnings!”

Maybe there was a quick Whatsapp exchange that we are unaware of, however, it seems that speaking things into existence works because the duet we have all been waiting for happened. Now, we wait for the official collab…

Kylie took to X (formerly Twitter) to commemorate the iconic moment and said: “MADONNA. It’s been a long time coming!!! LOVED being with you!!!! Celebration Tour AND it is now International Women’s Day …. THANK YOU and LOVE LOVE LOVE.”

Fans online were quick to react. One fan shared: “SCREAMING CRYING SHAKING COUGHING THROWING UP FAINTING, MADONNA AND KYLIE TOGETHYHHEEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!!!!”

Another added: “OMFGGGGGGGG HISTORY IS MADE.”

What can we say Happy International Women’s Day one and all!
