Pride runs on island time for the stunning island of Curaçao
It's almost time for Curaçao Pride...

There’s a scenic beach paradise just 35 miles north of Venezuela, where gay pride runs on island time.
Of course, we’re talking about Curaçao — pronounced “Cure-a-sow” — which celebrates its 13th annual Pride this year from September 26 to October 5.
Over 3,000 people are expected to visit the island, where English is spoken everywhere, for beach and block parties, a dazzling drag brunch, concerts, and even a queer history tour.

That said, the can’t-miss event is Curaçao’s vibrant Pride Parade on Saturday, October 2, which charts through the streets of Willemstad.
This year, the theme is “Find Your Spark” — or “Sende Bo Chispa,” as they say on the island — a sentiment that organizers hope will resonate with those in the LGBTQ+ community who have already come out but are facing the “real challenges” that “often [lie] in what follows: uncertainty, fear, and the pressure to hide one’s true self.”
Where to stay in Curaçao

There is no shortage of hotels and resorts on the island, although the most luxurious (and sun-drenched) option is, by large, the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort in Willemstad.
This LGBTQ+-friendly spot is parked on six acres of oceanfront property, just six minutes away from downtown, where all the island’s biggest Pride festivities occur.
Guests can enjoy direct access to the beach, two pool options (including an adults-only lap pool with an infinity edge), and excursion opportunities like reef dives and dolphin adventures.
You know, when you’re not basking in the 90-degree temps and sipping piña coladas.

On top of that, the resort has a top-notch gym and group fitness classes if you’re trying to get a quick pump in before that beach party.
Thankfully, the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort also has accommodations for any crowd, including rooms with garden views and stunning oceanfront suites.
So, if you’re trying to get one more Pride celebration in before the year ends — or you’re not ready to put away your ol’ dependable summertime short shorts — look no further than the pink sunsets of Curaçao, and get the gay-trip group-chat going ASAP.
