See Bad Bunny and Gael García Bernal kiss in New ‘Cassandro’ Clip

Bad Bunny made his on-screen kissing debut in the new wrestling biopic “Cassandro,” sharing the moment with Gael García Bernal.

Since we learned that Gael García Bernal would portray a queer exótico (a luchador in drag) in a Roger Ross Williams-directed biopic, our anticipation for Cassandro’s debut has been palpable. The film premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, receiving enthusiastic acclaim from critics. One highly anticipated scene was the kiss between Bernal’s Cassandro and Felipe, one of his love interests played by Bad Bunny. Finally, we can see what the chatter is about in this exclusive clip shared by ENews.

Gael García Bernal Kisses Bad Bunny

In the clip, we encounter Felipe, a drug dealer pivotal in Saúl Armendáriz’s (Bernal) journey to self-acceptance and coming to terms with his homosexuality. Despite lingering tension between them, Saúl decides to take action. However, Felipe, while initially responsive to the kiss, promptly pulls away.

“It’s okay, don’t worry. Don’t freak out,” Saúl reassures the man. “I’m sorry. See you around, stud.”

We. Need. More.

Here is the film’s synopsis. “Saúl Armendáriz, a homosexual amateur wrestler from El Paso, Texas, rises to international stardom when he creates the character Cassandro, the `Liberace of Lucha Libre.’ He upends not just the macho wrestling world, but also his own life.” The film is an adaptation of a true story written by Ross Williams and David Teague.

Bad Bunny Opens Up About Kissing a Man

Unless his character, Bad Bunny had no hesitations when it came to the kiss.

“If you’re acting, you’re being someone you’re not,” he told Time Magazine. “So when they asked me for that, I said, ‘Yes, I’m here for whatever you want.’ I think it was very cool; I didn’t feel uncomfortable.”

See more of Felipe and Saul in the trailer below. Cassandro is now playing in select theaters and will be available on Prime Video on September 22.
